    Pros

J.B. Hunt is a decent place to work if you want to get a year of experience fresh out of college. The pay is on par with most entry level jobs for college grads. The benefits package is pretty decent also.

    Cons

The management structure here is atrocious. People are promoted for doing a good job, which is not a bad thing. But some of these people have no idea of what it takes to be a leader, mentor, coach, etc. The management style is based on discipline and dismiss, rather than coach and correct. Upper management seems to make a lot of decisions based off emotions rather than logic. And beware of the Arkansas connection. It seems as if 85% of the management team has some connection to that state or school. If you're not one of them, you probably don't matter. For anyone other than a first year college grad, the pay is ridiculous.

    Advice to Management

Respect your management team and stop treating them like children. Promote leaders, not just folks that do-gooders that don't have a clue on how to manage.

    Pros

JBH is a strong company and will probably be around for years to come. Work life balance is ok to good and a couple of the IT managers are good people with good ethics and morals.

    Cons

Senior management focuses on what benefits them, not necessarily the company. This lack of leadership and ethical standards has fostered a layer of managers that would not last long in a normal workplace. Some of the sharpest technical people have left the company for the sole reason of poor management.

    Advice to Management

People are a company's most valuable asset. I think the CIO has lost touch with the day to day workings of the IT department and doesn't see the downturn occuring.

    Pros

The people are nice. The pay is decent. Vacation time is fair. They value health and wellness. Everyone has been there a long time.

    Cons

Sometimes it feels you are a small fish in a big pond. It also takes forever to get anything done.

I have been working at J.B. Hunt full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Its a job if you need one quick and dont care what you get paid

    Cons

You will be treated like crap. Pay sucks sometimes you end up getting paid $24 for a run that takes you 2 1/2 hours

    Advice to Management

Learn to communicate amongst each other

I have been working at J.B. Hunt full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I honestly can't think of a single good thing about JB Hunt. See notes below.

    Cons

Lack of effective management structure. Failure to properly communicate across teams; more of a silo'd team structure than cross management. Lack of professionalism all the time.

I have been working at J.B. Hunt full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

starting salary, at first-but then you are told you must work 9-10 hrs per day without breaks or a lunch Great job for someone right out of college or for those with limited brain capacity

    Cons

boring, unorganized, I've worked at small businesses that have better technology and processes. Micro managed, under staffed. You are actually scolded for stepping away from your desk for more then 3 minutes during a 10 hour shift. Recruiters mislead applicants with hours, schedule etc. No vacation until after 1 year of service. Only holidays off are Christmas and Thanksgiving.

    Advice to Management

your extremely high turnover rate is not due to the people you hire, but the atmosphere, work/life balance that would turn anyone with experience away

    Pros

Nothing good to say about the company.

    Cons

The company expects a lot of work for very little pay.

    Advice to Management

Improve pay and work/life balance or continue to lose talented frontline operators.

I have been working at J.B. Hunt full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good equipment and most managers are good

    Cons

They need to change to only having Safety Managers that have a current CDL license and have actually driven a truck why should I have to explain myself to somebody that has never driven a commercial vehicle. Pay for local drivers average 1100.00 a week pay is not by the hour. When you divide your pay by your average hours worked it equals out to less than 14.00 hr most drivers work a 70 hour week. LTL companies pay around $18.00 to $27.00 hour

    Advice to Management

pay local drivers by the hour instead of by the mile. Local drivers can not make a living getting paid by the mile

I have been working at J.B. Hunt full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Without a doubt the worst OTR company in the united states that I have worked for.

    Cons

Trying to get home , pay and generally being treated like crap, trying ti get sleep while dispatchers send numerous messages over a QUALCOMM to tell you irrelevant info.

    Advice to Management

Enjoy the fruits of your elitist business plan while your reputation continues to one of the industry's worst. Just remember there are a finite number of truck drivers on this planet and the vast majority already know from former employees like me how sorry JB hunt is
