I have been working at J.B. Hunt full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Challenging work, great people, stable work environment. Pay is reasonable for the area.

    Cons

Aggressive deadlines that are not realistic. Work life balance is not always honored. No real incentive to work harder. Employee ideas may be heard but they are not given any real consideration by upper management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I don't mind working hard, but the long hours are burning me out. Give REAL incentive to work hard. A raise that barely covers the cost of living increase doesn't cut it. People need to feel valued, money is not always the answer but a lack of a reasonable raise speaks volumes to how we are valued.

Also, expand the career path. A decent developer with 10-15 years of experience will top out in career path easily. The only way to grow at that point is to go into management or leave the company. Those with a technical bent typically leave, I have seen us lose many great developers for this reason.

I have been working at J.B. Hunt

    Pros

The ability to work close with your drivers and customer. You are basically given a franchise JB Hunt branch when you become and account manager

    Cons

You are expected to work in excess of 60 hours per week as an account manager, especially one that you are at on your own. If a driver happens to get into an accident you could end up with a 15+ hour day. You are also on call as soon as your drivers get to their trucks, that could be 24 hours a day or 3 am, and if something goes wrong your phone will ring and you have to deal with the issue then, and sometimes go into the office.

  3.

My time at JB Hunt was very enjoyable and challenging. The experience I obtained while an Account Manager was valuable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Every manager has his/her own management style and the result of their disposition is their own success or failure. JB Hunt had great management teams.

I worked at J.B. Hunt as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

Great experience working as an intern with such a well-known company. Was shown real-life experience in a corporate environment and was depended on much more than just a regular intern.

    Cons

Time commitment was a lot with also being a full-time student. Some unprofessional was shown although most of it was cleared up.

I have been working at J.B. Hunt part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Fantastic company to work for. It is a Fortune 500 company but still feels small, which which is refreshing in the business world. Strong emphasis on safety culture and having fun at work (while still being productive). Management provides plenty of opportunities to expand your skill set and makes going to work fun. I haven't worked with anyone that I disliked. I couldn't have asked for a better company to intern for this year.

    Cons

It's not always fun working with drivers... but not every job is perfect. There can be some downtime or you can have a crazy hectic day. Unpredictable (but I kind of like it).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep maintaining small company feel while expanding business.
