I have been working at J. C. Penney part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Flexable work schedule, Family/Life work balance. Customer satisfaction is first. Starting pay was $10 per hour. Dental, vision, life, disability, critical illness and 401k benefits for part time employees are available.

    Cons

After the Christmas season is over we only get 10-15 hours per week. Customers are tough. Processing all those coupons, discounts, reward points and catalog orders can be very stressful....understaffed stores make for stressed employees and discontented customers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get a better computer system, change your company policy of NOT being permitted to call in someone to cover a shift the scheduled employee calls out! It makes for a very stressful job and displeased customers and employees! Life happens...being understaffed is NOT the way to grow this company.

I have a pretty simple job. I fold clothes, check the dressing room, work on the cash register, and assist customers.

    Pros

Not a very demanding job. They work well with your schedule.

    Cons

I worked there for two years and never got a raise. $7.75 pay the whole time. Managers kept putting off my review to get a raise.

    I worked at J. C. Penney

    Pros

A fun environment with lots of opportunities to learn and teach. Events were always a blast and helping customers find products that worked for them was always fantastic.

    Cons

Never had an issue with Sephora itself, but the JCPenney management and leads were rude, condescending, and unbearable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find a way for the Sephora employees to have an incentive for customers to sign up for the CC. There is absolutely none, and when I finally had someone sign up for a CC, I was told by lead, VERY sarcastically "wow you got one in 5 months! that's sooo impressive!". Completely uncalled for.

    I worked at J. C. Penney full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Prior to the despicable Ron Johnson, JC Penney was a great place to work - decent pay with excellent vacation policy and work-life balance.

    Cons

Allowing an incompetent egoist like Ron Johnson to burn $1 Billion is cash reserves and destroy a 100 year old company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value and appreciate the good employees vs promoting favorites, which is seen all over the place at JCP.

    Pros

Pretty good staff good discount pay wasn't that bad for the most part. I enjoyed working with the people in my department
