    Pros

Assisting people with their shopping needs and helping them get what they wanted. Customer service was number one there and that's always a plus

    Cons

You have to get so many charge apps in order to get a raise which is ridiculous since most people already have the credit card there

    I worked at J. C. Penney

    Pros

The pros were the people at the store I was located at. The culture was very open and friendly which was great.

    Cons

The amount of person to person interactions all day were very tiring. The shifts were long when you are out on the floor all day sometimes with little to do.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Training needs to be improved especially when changes are put in place.

I worked at J. C. Penney part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The employee discount of 25% was very good since it could be combined with other coupons. Also, if you met your weekly "find it, keep it" (getting customers to buy unavailable merchandise online while shopping with free shipping to the store) goal of 6 and daily credit card applications goal of 5, then you would get a $5 gift certificate that you could use at the store (not Sephora).

    Cons

They understaff almost every weekday which is so annoying. They always talked about the hourly "budget" and how they couldn't go over it. Therefore, I found myself having to take care of the busiest departments (womens and juniors) at night where people go crazy and want to try on everything before we close.... Also, every department head has a walkie and one of their uses is so management can push credit applications every 5 minutes through it. It is extremely annoying since it is so loud and repetitive and customers can hear it throughout the store.

    Pros

I love how they have parties and different gatherings frequently showing that they do value their employees.

    Cons

They are not family friendly in terms of the work schedule. They had me working closing shifts for weeks straight and every Saturday. As a single mom it was very difficult and a hassle as far as evening daycare among friends and relatives considering that most daycare close by 6pm. When I discussed my concerns to the assistant manager she pretty much threatened my job. Other working mother's there had the same issue. We did however reach a compromise that I can work some nights during the week. I still had to work every weekend. I ended up resigning do to that reason. It wasn’t worth my kids going house to house every night.

    Pros

The people are friendly, the discounts are good.

    Cons

training was horrible they showed you the basics then when you get out there use what they thought you another manager would say no that isnt how we do it anymore so there was a lot of miscommunication between everyone. i've been there for 4 months and i still have no time saved up for vaction time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

work more closely with your new assocaites, listen when they talk they just might teach you something, don't push off your work on to the lesser paid assocates.
