    Pros

Discounts were so worth it and we always knew ahead of time what was going to be on sale in the future. We received salon services at amazing discounts to keep us looking amazing!

    Cons

If an employee does not work in the salon, they have NO IDEA what it's like... That includes ALL upper management. They would walk in like their stuff didn't stink and tell you what to do.... It never worked in their favor.

    Advice to Management

Please only manage your particular part of the store. Salon knows the protocol and what they're doing, don't try to act like you know the drill because you definitely don't.

    Pros

Great discount and the management isn't bad at all. I climbed the ladder rather quickly.

    Cons

The salary isn't the best but not horrible either.

    Advice to Management

Just wish the salary was more.

    Pros

Easy, base pay is above minimum wage, 25% off for employees

    Cons

They dont know how to schedule correctly (scheduling too many people when we're not busy and scheduling not enough during our busiest hours)
Too much pressure to get people to apply for credit cards.
Not many opportunities to advance ones porition
Black Mold growing in air ducts
They expect you to speak to every customer, ring up every customer, solicit credit, straignten up, restock your section, and prevent people stealing items even though you may be the only person working in your department.
    Always too hot

    Advice to Management

    schedule people more appropriately

    Pros

The people were great, friendly, helpful and very welcoming. Products were okayish. Some great bargains with employee discount and coupons combined. Sephora!

    Cons

Understaffed in the department I worked in. Can get boring during slow days. Expected too much to open a credit card, which is generally hard if you are not good at it.

    Advice to Management

Thank you for the incentives, but please lower your expectations a bit. Too much reliance on credit cards opening can be annoying.

    Pros

They always had meals for us on holidays that we had to work

    Cons

Were expected to stay after scheduled time if you were closing and the store wasn't clean

    Advice to Management

Be more friendly and open to listening to your employees

    Pros

JC Pennys encourages their employees to continue with their education. This makes their attitude positive and flexible as it relates to scheduling.

    Cons

The management in my experience overstaffed the departments and cut our total number of hours. There were many employees but most of us desired more hours, which does not work.

    Advice to Management

my advice to management would be to cut an employee or two from each department and give the team members more overall hours.

    Pros

Very engaging and friendly team of associates.

    Cons

This store is always short staffed and the expectation is to have the store completely recovered after closing this sometimes leads to leaving work between 11pm - 3am.

    Operations Manager

    I have been working at J. C. Penney full-time

    Pros

The schedule is flexible, great pay compared to previous employer, ability to be creative, get to work with smaller teams, overall a good job to have in retail environment.

    Cons

Very strange metrics to drive productivity and sales. Management and staff are ancient and not willing to change. No accountability in store. Staff cuts hurt the appearance and service.

    Advice to Management

Bring in new young hard workers. Take advice from the experienced, but be able to change. Add more staff and cut pay overall. Update stockroom and operations procedures and metrics
