I have been working at J Sainsbury

    Pros

Friendly team, decent pay and looked after well. The stores are quite modern and you get paid breaks. The cafeteria has free tea and coffee refulls

    Cons

Can sometimes be unorganised but generally nice place to work. Not much progression and can become quite repetitive. Often requried to do overtime

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the good work overall. They do a good job in ensuring everyone is enjoying their job whilst making sure customer service is at optimum

I worked at J Sainsbury part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Friendly atmosphere, were flexible around my studies at university and lots of opportunity for overtime and could go on to other departments.

    Cons

Had been a lack of staff with lots of people leaving, not always organised. The job can be very repetitive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make employees more aware of the benefits they can receive and more updates about the company, I went to 3 monthly briefings after working there for 3 years

I worked at J Sainsbury full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

High level of training, kept up to speed with company developments, annual bonus, good sense of comradeship, and regular social events.

    Cons

Management often ill equipped for leadership, demands considerable amount of commitment and flexibility for the job, which itself was not well remunerated.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on ensuring staff are happy and supported, rather than working to the bone and asking unrealistic goals with poor manpower to ensure task is completed. Reduce nepotism.

    I worked at J Sainsbury

    Pros

    Good training. Good team.

    Cons

Time targets were difficult to keep to. Customers would interrupt you and you were expected to deal with them which badly affected you target time. What are you to do?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Heard one member of night staff continually swearing and putting down online staff. She shouldn't be allowed to do this its' demoralizing, especially for new starters.
