I have been working at JELD-WEN full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Its easy to obtain health benefits and that is about it.

    Cons

There is not a single once of fairness within this company. They promote from within, but only if they're your buddies. New ideas aren't considered but they say that they are. This company will tell you one thing and do another.
After being employed here for 2 years, they have only gotten my check correct twice, not exaggerating, twice.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You NEED to value your employees as they truly are your bottom line. You need to improve work conditions and quality of workmanship will improve. You need to cut down the we vs they mentalities in the plants and encourage shifts to work as teams together instead of opposing.

I have been working at JELD-WEN

    Pros

Having a flexible schedule and good co-workers.

    Cons

The compensation has been steadily declining.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remember that we are people, not just a number.

  3.

I worked at JELD-WEN full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

A more livable wage than other local companies. Some bonuses for long term employees.

    Cons

Poor management. Management does not listen well to employees who see problems and have solutions. I had 9 supervisors come and go in 11 years, some were fired, some demoted, some forced to relocate.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay attention to the employees who actually work hard and listen to them. Give them some respect.

    Cons

Imagine what it'd be like making far, FAR less than your friends... That's what you get here. Often for the same job.

I have been working at JELD-WEN full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Flexibility with your schedule. Schedule your own travel, and it is paid by the company. Teaching and training people in your field. Great healthcare plans.

    Cons

Tons of travel. Nobody speaks of pay incentives or raises.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give employees some idea of what type of future they have with the company.

I worked at JELD-WEN part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The facilities are fantastic. They really spend a great deal of money on their facilities.

    Cons

Some employees were very friendly while most were introverts. Guess that is to be expected in Klamath Falls. Most of the town is introverted. I suspect 18% of the town is sponsored by the witness protection program.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop trying to squeeze everything you can out of your employees without providing reasonable compensation.

I worked at JELD-WEN full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Employees are nice to work with but it's like an environment of mice in a maze. Hard to be any more positive with the lack of clear direction.

    Cons

Management is run by investors, future of company lacks concern for its employees and the community in which it was founded. Klamath is a ghost town, Oregon will suffer overall.

I have been working at JELD-WEN full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Most employees really care and want to do a good job. They are supportive of others and sincerely want to deliver.

    Cons

Management seems to either lack a strategy or the ability to communicate a strategy and priorities to deliver on this strategy. Everything is always priority number one therefore nothing gets done timely or completely.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Build a strategy, a plan to deliver, and hold managers accountable to the plan. Allow other lower priority and nice to have things to be set aside to deliver to the strategy.
