Your experience will depend on your fellow employees

Cashier/Cook (Current Employee)
Long Beach, CA

I have been working at Jack in the Box part-time for less than a year

ProsFlexible hours, discounts, and clean environment.

ConsNot a good place for teens or college students.
Very judgement employees.
Rude customers.

Advice to Senior ManagementI am a college student that is working part-time, and it is very discouraging when people that have been working for years at Jack in the box make new employees feel like they are idiots. I am the only college student, and the others make it seem like only working 6 hours a week is a bad thing. I am aware of the fact that many people do depend on jobs like these to support their families, but it is not right single out people who are seeking out a higher education.

The worst job I ever had....

Team Member (Current Employee)
Hurst, TX

I have been working at Jack in the Box full-time for more than 3 years

ProsYou get discounts on food.

ConsThis has to be the worst job that I have every worked! It's a very high stressed and demanding job. It doesn't pay enough for the stress that I deal with there. We're always short staffed all the time and the benefits aren't that great!

Jack in the Box was the best company to work for.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Jack in the Box full-time for more than 5 years

ProsGood company, opportunities and values that balances family time and work time, Jack and Linda are great CEO, is a company that always change and become stronger as management set goals to improve sales and profit.

ConsCEO needs to see what is going on, too many employees and management looking for other jobs were they appreciete the hard work done 24/7 every day. Too many changes and the new Directors of Operation they know what is going on and they do not say or they do not want to see it. Managers working more that 45 hours per week and no one can say any thing, HR know that and they are ingnoring the issue. Top leadership management is supporting the franchise model which hire employees with no management skills that do not support the Jack in the Box system and they do not use them as is mandated by the company.

Advice to Senior ManagementLook into the midle management that are managing the regions, they are selecting the people that do not have the skills requiered for the position (Education: some they only have High School and they have been promored to District Managers), low pay restaurant manager, and look into the real picture of what is going on every day in the franchise restaurant operation, go for what you see not for what you hear from the franchise leadership (they only look for their money and forget about the company vision.

SOOO many changes - is it time to jump ship?

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
San Diego, CA

I have been working at Jack in the Box full-time for more than 3 years

Pros--Leadership is trying to cultivate a culture of "fun, excellence, agility, simplicity, and trust", while bringing the company into budgetary alignment in regards to being now 80% franchised
--Every other Friday off

Cons--Low pay, many layoffs/early retirements
--Very low morale
--No career ladder

Advice to Senior Management--more transparent communication, and more often
--bring salaries into alignment with San Diego norms
--initiate a Leadership Development program, illuminating career advancement/paths
--drop the "if it isn't broken, don't fix it" mentality. Obsolete is worse than broken. If it's obsolete, fix it. If it takes 10 hours to do here, when other companies can do it in 2, fix it.

Too Dramatic, and Menacing Supervision.

Cashier/Cook (Current Employee)
Dallas, TX

I have been working at Jack in the Box full-time for less than a year

ProsTime flies - when it's a busy day, it won't be long before the shift ends. Plus, there tends to be easygoing hours, not to mention it's very quick to catch up on.

ConsI'm not sure if it was the store itself, but there were so many days that it's utterly packed it would be scary. Not to mention the silly more-than-what-should-exist drama that emanated in there - the manager and the one before had such preferences/biased statements to the point all cashiers would have lack of hours, yet get still called in off-hours due to shortage. (I mean come on, what kind of manager are you if you can't even get the entire schedule fixed up nicely?) Not to mention the lines we HAVE to say in order to "have more hours"... not very pleasant in everyone's favors. Plus a waste of time.

Advice to Senior ManagementIf we have a certain "time" to beat handing out orders, then don't make us say "How is our service today?" to our guests - it kills our time to hear opinions, not to mention it makes this company have a desperate image - ESPECIALLY if our actual hours LITERALLY depend on it. ONE MORE THING: for the love of customers, if you wanna keep employees, then for crying out loud, get the recorded hours right - the fact that I have to take photographic proof that I haven't been getting the proper pay for the amount of hours I REALLY have been working, not to mention having to record a document of such as well, is truly something that isn't good at all in your image. Sincerely, a very grumpy worker of a 50+tacos/hour store.

Jack in the Box asks alot from the employees without any type gratitude and appraisal from management or corporate.

Cashier (Current Employee)
Southgate, CA

I have been working at Jack in the Box part-time for more than 3 years

ProsThere is plenty of hourly flexibility. If you are going to school or anything of that sort, management accomodates your schedule.

ConsNight shifts are very scary, because they only let 2 persons in the store. Drive thru and diner are open. That's one of the reasons I quit.

Advice to Senior ManagementAll the team members work extremely hard for the company and management has no type of rewards or appraisals. You need to at least give "thanx" to your workers since there are no type of benefits.
