I have been working at Jack in the Box

    Pros

Easy to learn. It's like any other fast food. If you move up you can make some pretty decent money.

    Cons

Minimum wage starting out. Large menu to learn. A lot of cleaning to do. Not as many team members to run a shift like at McDonald's or other places so its difficult to be fast sometimes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you are a quick learner and have leadership skills you can become a team leader fairly quickly. You get a nice little raise just for that. If you prove yourself from there you can become an assistant manager and eventually a store manager.

    Pros

Fast-paced, innovative environment offers lots of opportunity. Culture respects tenure as well as new ideas, often a difficult balance to achieve.

Company values it's employees, and attempts to provide work- life balance...few retention issues.

    Cons

Lots of decisions-by-committee, which can be inefficient.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Dont be afraid to lead. The Leadship team is smart, capable, and there for a reason!

I have been working at Jack in the Box

    Pros

The store I currently work at has some great people with a lot of potential. I enjoy woking with many of my fellow employees and have made some great friends.

    Cons

Some of the team leaders at my store are are not team players. They seem to be looking out for themselves. When it is busy some of the team leaders ignore the members that are struggling to get the food out in a timely manner. These team leaders are wondering around, talking on their cell phones, eating, or just sitting on their butts with their feet up.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The team leaders at my store need to 'grow-up' and do their job. They were not promoted to sit in the office or stand outside and smoke. They need to lead the team and work side-by-side helping and directing to get the food out for the customer to enjoy.

I have been working at Jack in the Box full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

They are a motivational company. Guest focused. They want to get it right.

    Cons

Hours of work, lack of resources and support. Training system and time allowed for training of team and Shift Leaders is defeating. Quality Shift leaders and assistant managers are limited at best.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find hours for training not the current labor guide. Invest money into your Shift Leaders and assistant managers as they make up over 100 hours of guest experience each week.

I have been working at Jack in the Box

    Pros

Good work-life balance, the work is relatively easy

    Cons

There is way too much favoritism for it to be a fair workplace. If the managers and the people the managers are friendly with like you, you will get good hours and a raise and get away with whatever. If they dont, you wont, and you better be on your game and make sure you dont make any mistakes or give them a reason to write you up so they can fire you. Not every shift does their fair share of the work. Managers will say things but not enforce them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Talk personally to team members on occasion and make sure there isn't unfair favoritism going on, or other things going on that's affecting the store that they can't talk to their manager about. If it is a 24-hour restaurant, come visit the store sometimes during the night shift, not just morning or afternoon.

I have been working at Jack in the Box part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Learning good customer service, work-life balance, very lax on appearance (at least in my district), flexible hours, fun staff, learning how to be fast and work under pressure

    Cons

Training is an absolute joke. Hours could get traded up for newer employees. Some employees don't always follow food safety requirements (ie. not wearing gloves when preparing food, washing hands regularly). Sales come in bursts, sometimes there will not be a customer for a solid hour, so it gets very slow. People don't carry their weight and portion/prep food or ingredients.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please ensure your managers don't scare people to the point of employees constantly quitting, no matter how "good" the store is with them. A store isn't good when your employees literally cower in fear under their GM.

    Pros

Managment does the best they can for the staff with scheduling and days off but it is a customer driven environment so expect to work holidays and such.

    Cons

Fast food is an extremely fast paced business to work in with the monetary rewards being minimal.
