    Pros

Training courses are good and helpul

    Cons

Work environment is horrible and chaotic

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't keep supervisors just because they are good tax preparers. They must have management skills as well

I have been working at Jackson Hewitt full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

get tax training and learn to prepare taxes

    Cons

They rip customers off and never really help them after they pay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is nothing they can do as I see it because every Jackson Hewitt is its own separate franchise. They only care about selling a franchise to a new business owner more $$$ in the pocket even if the business owner rips off the clients. I worked at 3 different locations and it is the same thing. They never want to disclose the fees and only after it is time to file if the customer asks before you click the button should you discuss fees. They work me like a dog in the tax season and we only get $10 per hour the most so it really is not worth it. I will probably quit this year and I am sorry to the clients that i helped JH rip off.

I worked at Jackson Hewitt full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Loved the seasonal position and the customers. Usually got the hours you wanted.

    Cons

Management are all about themselves not about the employees. They don't care if they take every penny the customer has and pay their employees very poorly. No communication and they do not like to take responsibilities for their decisions. Better to blame it on someone who works very very hard for them. They talk a lot about taking care of the hard working empoloyees but never follow through.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Your lower level managers and your employees are the ones who make that business work not the higher managers who don't even know how to do a tax return, realize this before you lose every strong person you have.

I have been working at Jackson Hewitt full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Franchise- Known Brand, tight knit offices, room for advancement ( take on more duties that look good on a resume) great training, organized, positive reinforcement, owner sponsored events

    Cons

Corp- Many hours ( 65 hour work weeks) High turn over rate, corporate decisions that make no sense to the management and to the preparers, constantly fluctuating office hours, no training ( SERIOUSLY?) you lock us out of the system we need to actually prepare the returns and need permission complete the return. If you don't trust us, you shouldn't trust us to handle peoples financial records. even though you have worked for the company brand and the system, unless you worked for a corporate location, they don't recognize that you ever worked for them, and you are treated like a brand new know nothing employee... until they need something, then its like " well you have worked for us, you should know" but I cant claim any of the returning preparer packages because I didn't work for them.... should have taken my experience to h&r. they recognize it no matter where you come from. they just train you on their system. and they pay more.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE YOU PAY NOTHING TO. THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING AND ASKING FOR. SINCE WE ARE THE PEOPLE WHO DEALS WITHT HE PUBLIC AND ACTUALLY DO THE WORK.

I have been working at Jackson Hewitt

    Pros

Its an ok job if you really want to go and just do nothing but still get paid

    Cons

They really dont care about their employees and offices, they dont pay you for all your hours, they dont supply offices with basic stuff such as printers, paper and internet, area managers still money from company, they have all their family members working with them and they all take advantage of that

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

they should hire more professional managers who know what they do and do their work right instead of stealing from their company

I worked at Jackson Hewitt (more than an year)

    Pros

Some of the employees are extremely helpful with each other as they must utilize their own resources.

    Cons

Management does not have time to manage, they are so concentrated on cutting back on budgets including hiring staffing that do no know how to prepare tax returns, nor communicate with each other. Management will tolerate anything to keep a location open

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Training should be mandatory for all employees. Some of the locations are workplace harassment by management at its finest. Even part time seasonal people are human beings and should be treated as such.

I worked at Jackson Hewitt full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Working with customers, filing tax returns, helping customers get a larger tax return.

    Cons

When the government would withhold customers tax returns for whatever reason, some customers could get very angry, making it a very scary situation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure the people you hire can do basic math.

    Pros

Pay was a little higher than H&R Block. Tax prep program was easy to use.

    Cons

No training whatsoever. Co-workers only knew how to ask the questions on the screen with very little tax knowledge. Very little support from franchise owners. Fees very high for services.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Annual tax prep classes are a must.

    Pros

The job was only worth the work experience

    Cons

The bad things about working there was the hours, Pay, & Co-workers

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look into employees that might be abusing the system. I saw some stuff that other co-workers did and I was ashamed to be working along side of them.
