I worked at Jacobs full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Lots of good people work there. Unfortunately, most of them would like to work somewhere else. Management doesn't care. You'll be replaced when the first project goes bad.

    Cons

Typical consulting environment. All about billable hours. Management wants the work done quickly regardless of accuracy. Be prepared to be laid off as soon as the project is complete.

I worked at Jacobs full-time for less than a year

    Pros

I could not find any revealing qualities.

    Cons

They are out of touch with Humanity. Think their programs can run the company. Do not share the caring they profess to have for employees as they say. There is no HR it seems as the On boarding program is not a success as they say people have waited 6 week to get all the credentials. You are on your own and if something does not go good for the clients don't look for Jacobs to help.

    Pros

Good place to make money if you treat it like they do, no loyalty, and a stepping stone to a better career. Do not make the mistake of using them as a career you will be disappointed

    Cons

No loyalty to employees, they are at the whim of the government no matter what. Very disappointed with some of the underhanded dealings. You will be just an employee, if you want to work as a team or a corporate family this is not the place for you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your employees better, try to show some loyalty to something other than money. I realize you are in business to make money but at what price? Stop treating people like they are just something disposable.

I have been working at Jacobs full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Benefits, paid time off are literally the ONLY pros I can attribute to this company.

    Cons

Circus for an HR department. I pride myself on integrity and honesty, after only two years in this company I realize this is not the company for me.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have no advice for you as you have allowed this to manifest and infest within your company (TEAS Contract), These practices and behaviors take years to embed as deep as within this contract. In my two years with the company I have observed a single employee survey questioning the moral and comradre within, to which it is my understanding 60% of personnel represented their opinions to no avail.

I worked at Jacobs full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Salary is competitive and benefits are fair

    Cons

I felt as though I was working for a crooked company, with adherance to rules, regulations and morals falling on deaf ears. HR will play the game of concern, however problems are provided a cheap non-waterproof bandaid. (TEMPORARY FIX). I believe someday Jacobs will deal with the wrath of what has emassed within the company.

I have been working at Jacobs for more than 5 years

    Pros

My hourly pay rate, the ability to work from home

    Cons

On February 5, 2013 I wrote a lengthy review about my experience working at Jacobs. It's been over a year and things have gotten even worse. Our group has been reduced from 8 employees to 3 employees due to lack of work. I recently found out that my resume is being used to win projects but once the work starts, those closest to the project take the work for themselves so they can stay billable. My hours have been reduced to around 15 a week so I no longer receive any benefits (it was the only way to avoid being laid off) . Yes, I am looking for a new job but as many of you know, the competition is fierce and I can't relocate. I have been taking continuing education courses on my own time and my own dime since I can't get approved for training reimbursement. And just so you don't think the problem is ME rather than Jacobs, my client of 5 years has written a letter of recommendation for me since he knows that budget cuts have reduced my hours and forced me to look for work elsewhere.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There are obviously some offices within Jacobs that are doing a good job (according to these reviews) so why not figure out what they are doing right and implement it company wide. It would also be smart to focus on the offices that score low to identify what they are doing that makes everyone so dissatisfied. I also noticed that a lot of reviews mention "good ole boy" networks and cliques. I have to agree with them. If you're not in the IN group, you are on your way out. Work shouldn't be like high school but in the office I'm in, it is.

I worked at Jacobs full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

There is opportunity to travel, alot.

    Cons

Liars, harassment, discrimination, mobbing. if you're not white and male at 50+ you will not get anywhere within this company no matter how much effort you expend. Management doesn't understand anything even slightly outside of their own white male world view. If you are different than the cultural 'norm' you are a threat, treated poorly and subjected to a toxic environment.

Wage discrimination between male and female engineers, guess which direction. No regard for safety, they will send a young female to a foreign country without providing a cell phone or vehicle, too cheap or don't care, unsure which. Bullying, blocking work and communications that are required to do your job. Laptop surveillance. Unprofessional treatment. Even their lawyers are unprofessional. It's too bad they throw their good loyal people away.

    Pros

Great place for the right person. If you are a person of a certain demographic you will do fine here.

    Cons

All others need not apply, they will crush you. And if you complain, their lawyers will crush you. Stay away, please….life is too short to put up with such cruelty.

The cons are endless..unjust treatment, unprofessional behavior by managers is tolerated, too many project managers who are just paper pushers and haven't actually run a job in years. Managers and project managers are too far removed from the work product to understand client issues thoroughly yet continue to make inappropriate knee jerk decisions. Abuse of billable hours, clients are not always getting the best value for their dollar. Intelligence and creativity are not rewarded, you might as well keep your head in the sand and keep quiet in order to keep your job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stick to what you know: Oil, gas and mining. Other industries think Jacobs a fool.
