I worked at Jacobs as a contractor for more than 5 years

    Pros

Not many unless you are related

    Cons

If you are not part of the in crowed life will be hard and employment short. If you are applying for a job it will be difficult to get.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Very large company, 70K employees worldwide, with bottom line culture. It is project based mentality towards employees.

I have been working at Jacobs full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The Branch that I work for is very conservative, somewhat relax as far as time-off policy. Compensation is above average and personal growth is limited.

    Cons

It is a culture of the Old Boys Club which is tightly controlled. Benefits are below average and there is no concept of work-life balance.

I worked at Jacobs full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Pleasant enough if you are not part of Carter Burgess take over.

    Cons

No chance for advancement unless you become a company man or bring in a juicy client, like the US Army. To many Jacobs employees let go so the idiotic Carter Burgess buyout transition would be smooth.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't be afraid to tell upper management that they are doing something stupid. No, be afraid. Be very afraid. To upper management; I would get on meds to avoid the heart attack you are going to have when someone figures out that you are ripe for takeover.

    I worked at Jacobs full-time

    Pros

Higher salaries then expected however it comes with a catch...

    Cons

Most managers do not seem to have knowledge of the departments they lead. They spew how they value employees however if your a not a complete follower and lie to the clients they provide services for, you are blackballed. They will keep the very low level inexperienced Managers & personnel and lie to the clients telling them they are the cream of the crop. They pay higher salaries to recruit individuals however your let go due to their work is very unsteady. Bad reputation in some markets.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start really listening to the people who actually do the work. Most of your Dept Managers are overpaid and contribute little.

I have been working at Jacobs full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I work at the Dow SCO site which is a great site to work at. You get to drive in and get a lot of OT.

    Cons

No room to move up. Upper management is there to stay. Supervision is very poor. Lots of complacency. 75% of supervision has no experience in field they supervise. Buddy system

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better pay would be nice. More than one week vacation a year to loyal employees.

I worked at Jacobs full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The position had relatively high pay, low responsibility, easy work, lots of overtime. It was good for a job in which you just get started.

    Cons

No real opportunities for promotion, only one raise, not for the ambitious. A lot of overtime is mandatory. Mainly it gives no real experience in anything and after a while you realize your position is just a contractual obligation written by lawyers and has no real significance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Incentive, give some.

    Pros

Salary is good, benefits are Great!

    Cons

Stressful conditions, company is full of deceit. Do not foresee potential growth for personnel. Appears the few chiefs in charge operate the contract as organized crime lords.
