I have been working at Jacobs full-time

    Pros

    Flexible work hours.
    Nice, knowledgeable, approachable people.
Company is working towards more progressive atmosphere: Hiring young engineers; mentoring programs; social events.
    Pay is above average.
Opportunities to move around internally and work abroad (e.g. mechanical to project engineering, assignments in Canada, North Carolina, Saudi Arabia, etc.).
    Many opportunities for free lunch!

    Cons

A place where older engineers come to die.
There's still a lack of developed training program.
    Terrible health insurance.
Individual performance feels like it goes unnoticed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More focus on training needs to be a priority. More recognition for those who go above-and-beyond.

    Pros

Supervisor was a great mentor. Huge company with options to work all over the world

    Cons

IT issues. The training for other positions was available, just needed to do some leg work to get in contact to the right people

I have been working at Jacobs full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Best company in the field. The employees seem smarter and better than other companies. Top performers in their perspective fields.

    Cons

Cost of Medical Benefits are too high for a 70k + employer. 5% Stock discount is too low.. The company is so large there is disconnect between the departments and various companies within hte group. Problems with communications between the higharchy of the company. The 1st line management that is performing the actual work and bringing in the repeat clients is given all the responsibility with little help from the office "overhead" people. Emplyees are left scrambling after each project to find the next or laid off.

I have been working at Jacobs full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

They have been up front, like more laid back then other company which is good and bad.

    Cons

Project manager (as usual) are sometime unrealistic to deliverables to hrs and time. Project Engineers are lacking general knowledge of all disciplines, they know one or two...not the best I have worked with...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Wok on your Project Engineering program. They should understand who all the parts fit together...

I worked at Jacobs full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Excellent place to gain industry experience.
Exposure to clients( i.e. networking). This gave me the ability to increase my salary by nearly 30% when I left.
Great work life balance at the alliance I worked at.
Safety culture is second to none.
High employee turn over rate yielded opportunity for increased responsibility.
My alliance manager, discipline manager, and co-workers were top notch.
    Up to date on technology.

    Cons

Benefits are awful. I paid over $9k out of pocket for a dependents broken arm on top of an expensive premium.
Annual raises were dispersed evenly over department. If I'm a top performer; show me the money!
High employee turn over rate sometimes effects project completion efficiency.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give meaningful raises to those that earn it. Don't reward those that don't show initiative. The high turn over rate in the industry means that you'll have to replace an employee with one of equal experience at a higher pay rate or find a lesser experienced candidate to fill the position. There's benefits to having a long standing employee base.

I have been working at Jacobs full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Jacobs is large, involved in lots of interesting work, and full of resources. There are plenty of opportunities available and work seems stable.

    Cons

It's a very corporate and structured working environment. The corporate bureaucracy can be as onerous as the government.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I've heard some horror stories about local management before I came on board being really lack luster, but since I've joined the company the management has been decent and continues to improve.
