Former Employee – worked at Jamba Juice part-time for more than a year
Pros – Great entry level job, fast paced environment.
Cons – Low pay for closing shifts. Having to clean the machines and checking inventory is at times, unworthy of the pay.
Advice to Senior Management – Pay your employees better.

Former Employee – worked at Jamba Juice part-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Nice and cool during the summer. Employees get a card that they can use to get half of their smoothie. There are annual raises, not very much though.
Cons – May get very dirty on busy days. Some customers may also be very rude. Lines will get out the door on the summer days. Almost no hours during the winter.
Advice to Senior Management – Get to know your employees instead of favoring people that would kiss ass.

Former Employee – worked at Jamba Juice part-time for less than a year
Pros – Constant flow of work, interaction with many customers, great work environment. The mood set in Jamba Juice makes you want to help contribute to it.
Cons – It was a tough job for me to get to, without proper transportation. The UCLA campus was hectic all the time.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep up the good work!

Current Employee – been working at Jamba Juice part-time for less than a year
Pros – Fun environment, great for high school students, flexible scheduling, fun co-workers, many co-workers were promoted with ease
Cons – Management needs to relax! But I guess it doesn't help that corporate keeps breathing down your neck to up-sell promotions
Advice to Senior Management – Focus on one area and work on that instead of trying to incorporate so many areas that cause it to fall apart

Pros – Pretty much everyone who worked here were students or chill older people--made for a fun environment. You'll leave knowing how to make smoothies. Not a mentally demanding job, just a lot of physical labor.
My boss was a spirited woman. A little anal about a lot of things, but she really tried to keep everyone upbeat.
Cons – *PHYSICALLY DEMANDING. Slow during the winter, but back-breaking work during the summer. I would come home sore with tense muscles, a sore back, and aching wrists. For eight bucks an hour, there are much less demanding things I could be doing. When you have 50+ orders backed up and a line that wraps around the building (and there are only like 3 of you out there including the cashier) it's pretty stressful.
I'm not kidding about the carpal tunnel either. I had to wear a wrist brace for a few months--sounds really ridiculous, but it's all that scooping rock-hard sherberts and ice cream. Puts an awkward strain on your wrists, and I'm not very strong to begin with. I dreaded pulling out new tubs of ice cream from the freezer, because that guaranteed wrist pain anyone someone wanted that sherbert.
*LOUD! I'm sure I developed some hearing loss, after spending 8 hours a day listening to 5 different blenders whirling simultaneously, with people trying to shout out names and orders. Seriously, what with all the general obsession over workers' health, you'd think hearing loss would be taken seriously. Maybe in the five years since I worked here they replaced all the blenders with quieter ones, but if they haven't, I'm sure every Jamba Juice employee has some sort of hearing damage as a result of working there--regardless of how minute. My ears would ring after my shifts, and sometimes it was so loud it physically hurt.
*LIMITED CAREER OPPORTUNITIES. I think the best you can do is go from a "team member" to shift supervisor--other than that, you're stuck. Not an issue for most people, since people don't seem to work longer than a few years. I think in the little over a year I spent working here, I got like a $.25 or $.50 raise lol.
*parts of TRAINING are unnecessary and pointless. We had to remember--and were routinely quizzed on--weird little acronyms like "FRUIT" where like the R stood for "respect" or some crap like that. Memorizing acronyms about customer service-related words doesn't make you better at customer service. That just means you're memorizing words. Y
*NO PERKS. You get one regular-sized smoothie per full shift. No discounts or anything.
Advice to Senior Management – My old boss called me like every other day to ask me to fill in for other people, or because it was busy. Please, don't do that.

Pros – The management team was pretty chill in my experience there meaning that they were patient and understanding, and very good about giving time off and such. The payment system is reliable like most gigantic companies. It was easy to catch on quickly to my responsibilities, and overall it's just a good place to dip your toes in the food service industry. Also you get a break during your shift by policy which some food service jobs do not allow, and you get an employee discount which is pretty cool.
Cons – the schedule is unreliable (it changes week to week) AND their work weeks are wednesday-tuesday so it was irritating wanting to plan out my week on sunday or so but not knowing for sure when i would be working next. Also, in my experience management hired too many people during my time there so everyone was complaining about not getting enough hours; if you didnt need the money so much it was just a little annoying not to be making more money, but if you were really relying on the paycheck it was legitimately unfair.
Advice to Senior Management – I approve of the relaxed environment the management team at my store facilitated but sometimes on the flip side it also brought about some disorganization. The only part that I felt really truly needed to be addressed was the overhiring issue. I realize how many applicants there are, but for that very reason I think that hirings should be more strategic than they were while I was there so that A) management is satisfied by the shifts always being covered and B) the employees can all be satisfied by meeting their hours and subsequently paycheck expectations without labor being too high.

Former Employee – worked at Jamba Juice
Pros – -50% discount, daily
-tips
-busy
-usually nice people to work with
Cons – -overworked, and not payed
-went through 5 different managers (within 3 years)
-managers didn't keep with up what THEY needed to
Advice to Senior Management – Try to take better care of ALL of your employees and take situations with HR seriously. And don;t hire so many external for management!
