Great company to get you started

District Manager (Former Employee) Los Angeles, CA

ProsIt was a great work environment the people were wonderful and the culture was positive and upbeat. This is a great place to start a career in the quick serve arena.

ConsThere are not really any cons. However, if I need to search for one It would be the launch of some promotions. They are rolled out to quickly and too often.

    Learned a ton!

    Shift Lead (Current Employee)

ProsLearned about cogs (cost of goods), inventory, FIFO (organization expiring of product), professionalism, customer service, register, training new employees, and how to manage a team of 4-8 people at once. You can get promoted if you work hard, and show pride in your work. They really taught is about marketing and customer service, its pushed a lot!

ConsSometimes it gets stressful during rushes, I felt like I had a lot of responsibility because I tried very hard to meet the Jamba standard, the smoothies are a bit pricey for guests so sometimes they complain- but that comes with all fresh healthy product.

Advice to Senior ManagementTo communicate more and socialize with the team members!

Consmaking smoothies all day everyday gets too repetitive sometimes

    Great first job

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsTaught me great work ethics that I refer to today in my professional career (building blocks, FIBER)
I have "clean as you go" ingrained and it has made me the cleanest roommate ever
There was always a balance of fun while on the job, best job I have had to this day because I was lucky enough to have a great fun team (innocent games for when it was slow like when we had to clean -- sticking a post-it on our back and guessing what was written on it -- we had a store beach day in the summer, etc)
Made great connections with regulars (googlers, san jose mercury employees, radio people)

ConsFor the amount of work you do, especially in the summer, min wage+ just doesn't seem to balance it out -- it's fine for a high schooler i suppose
It is a mindless job, and if you don't have the right team/people to work with you can get bored of it in 3 months easily.
If you have the wrong shift manager, scheduling can become a nuisance and a confusion.

ProsFantastic company that really follows its values.

ConsAll your team members are teens or early twenties, they need a lot of development, and there can be a lot of drama.

    Good people, good energy

Director-level In Corporate Office (Former Employee) Emeryville, CA

ProsGreat culture: energetic, passionate, fun. Great people. Lots of opportunity for personal growth and movement across different departments of company. Good work-life balance.

ConsCompany / senior management sometimes tries to do too many things at once. Leadership team is strong overall, but some executive team members not quite as strong as others. Challenging to keep all constituents in a franchise-oriented organization happy.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep focused on the core of what Jamba does best: smoothies and juices.

    Excellent Company

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsGreat culture, health and fitness focused, fantastic training, terrific people. The people are always great.

ConsBetter inter-departmental communication would have made everyone's time at work easier and less stressful. Hard workers get more work while slackers keep slacking

Advice to Senior ManagementWorking in upper management was a terrific experience for me until my boss moved on to a bigger opportunity with a larger organization. I then started working for a new supervisor that was a nightmare who had zero leadership skills and a giant chip on his shoulder. I left as soon as I could. Other than that jerk, most of the time, I would have to say it was a great place to work. The only thing I can mention to work on there would be better communication between departments and better planning and overall annual vision. Sometimes, it seemed as though communication within the organization was unclear or muddy. The Marketing Team had serious issues and never quite got it "together." They needed to have someone working in operations or supply chain working with them so there wouldn't be a shortage of product all of the time in the stores, or shortages at the wrong time of the year.

    Fast-paced, team-oriented, and fun.

Team Member (Current Employee) San Luis Obispo, CA

ProsWorking with a team is great, management is completely understanding. Environment is fast-paced, but fun. Happy customers makes me happy.

ConsDuring school, sometimes under-staffed. Minimum wage.

Advice to Senior ManagementFlexible when it comes to working hours, but strict on policy, which is good. Great standards of excellence and company values. Always encourages team to strive to perfection.

Fantastic working environment with plenty of advancement opportunity.

Team Lead (Current Employee) Santa Cruz, CA

ProsHigh paced work environment on warm days. Lots of opportunity for promotions within the company. Understanding of school schedules. Comprehensive training program, there is no reason why you should feel inadequate once you start working the line. Hire mostly young adults to keep the atmosphere fun and upbeat.

ConsLots of uncertainty when it comes to being promoted to upper management. There are scheduling issues sometimes, college kids can be flaky. A bit of busy work is required for leads. The pay is low for the amount they expect us to care about the company and products.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't let good talent go to waste.
