I worked at Jeppesen Sanderson full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

I really got along well with my team and my manager was OUTSTANDING. It was one of those rare instances where it didn't feel like a job, I loved the work and the environment. I don't know if I'll ever find that again in a company. I felt a lot of support from my managers, as well as from the PMO and the organization. I always felt that everyone wanted me to succeed, and that my contributions were appreciated and valued. Also, my manager was an advocate of flex time and telecommuting. This made the team very happy, and as a result they were very easy to work with and project manage.

    Cons

The program that I worked on was going through a refresh. We had difficulties getting a requirements from the business, which caused a bit of frustration and paranoia. There were also some quality mandates that were taking up quite a bit of people's time, with little apparent value added to the program/business. Finally, I witnessed some growing pains as managers from the parent company, Boeing, attempted to integrate into Jepp.

I have been working at Jeppesen Sanderson as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

    Boeing Company
Lots of good people to network with
Opportunities to move around and try new things

    Cons

    Overall Contract management

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Deliver a clearer message on the direction of the company.
Recent mission presentation was way below sub par and a waste of time

    Pros

Global company with huge influence. They have vast amounts of resources and personal. Aslo owned by Boeing, so a lot of communication with Seattle

    Cons

Company is too big, takes weeks just to get approval. Interns seem to get overlooked depending on the department.

I have been working at Jeppesen Sanderson full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Work life balance. Co-workers are great! Jeppesen always has interesting problems to work on. No Stress and relaxed work environment. Benefits package and compensation are very good.

    Cons

Jeppesen is growing and is behaving more and more like typical corporate America with regular layoffs and elimination of certain privileges, e.g., tuition reimbursement. Alignment and understanding of vision are not clear.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do what is right for Jeppesen and stop the politics and turf protection.

    Pros

    • Passionate employees • Great work life balance • Good benefits and compensation • Corporate discounts • Training opportunities

    Cons

    • Constant changes in department structures resulted in a lack of vision and planning • Lack of process made almost every job a last minute scramble • Always working towards the next "great idea", with no follow-through or completion • Lack of SLT support (for my department) made it extremely difficult to do your job effectively

    Pros

The people are great and benefits are excellent. Work/life balance is better than most places. Recognition for a job well done is also nice at Jeppesen.

    Cons

The politics are hard to maneuver at times. It can be complicated to get anything done with all the meetings.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay attention to the individual contributors thoughts on culture and politics. There are some people with great ideas out there.
