They fly by luck

In Flight (Current Employee)
New York, NY

I have been working at JetBlue part-time for more than 3 years

ProsJob
Free flights
No overbooking
Allow you to be part time if you want it.

ConsGive pilots 10 hours rest but work Flight attendants to unsafe levels of exhaustion. 18 plus hours. Inflight crews should all be on the same duty times.
Benefits are expensive
Cheap uniforms
VERY unorganized during weather or maintenance delays (IROP'S)
Very poor middle management.
Very poor pay yet expected to live in BOSTON OR NY etc.
Long wait times trying to reach crew scheduling.
NO UNIONS
Filthy aircrafts, Tv's that are often broken.
CEO never attends base meetings or I haven't seen him at one in 2 years.
Offer speak up surveys but never change anything for positive.
Building a hotel in MCO instead of fixing our airline.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen and learn from your front line people. Stop making stupid decisions. Learn from the big guys. How does the FAA let you get away with some of the things you do?

Was Great, not so much any more

Pilot (Current Employee)
New York, NY

I have been working at JetBlue full-time for more than 10 years

ProsGreat people that were hired when all the other airlines were not hiring. Everyone that helps generate revenue/touched airplanes are generally great people and we all work together well.

ConsThe leadership at jetBlue has all but vanished. The company core values have taken a tremendous hit since Dave Barger became CEO. Most pilots have gotten very frustrated with the many broken promises from the ELT. The company is making major mistakes when dealing with declining morale and pilots leaving for other major airlines.

Advice to Senior ManagementTell the truth, and tell the whole truth. Change the way you receive bonuses so that no bonuses are paid with an increase in total revenue AND an increase in the internal NPS which will force managers to become leaders.

Always looking over your back, too much gossip

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at JetBlue

ProsFinding another job they really don't care about you, lots of people are upset about David

ConsThey just fired about 9 guys, one of witch has cancer, and only have months to live,
He is at Tampa General hospital
Say a pray for David he is going to need it, how do you fire someone that have cancer
They claim to care about people, well, if they can fire him, they really don't care about the customers, just fake smiles.

rapidly deteriorating.

Pilot (Current Employee)
New York, NY

I have been working at JetBlue full-time for more than 10 years

Prosemployees are fabulous in spite of working conditions

ConsManagement gets more hostile everyday

Advice to Senior Managementplease explain how Alaska who you say is in the sweet spot with us, can quadruple our profit with less planes and 15% higher costs. Tell us how you agreed to a pay review process and then broke your word. Tell us how you plan to attract any pilot with 15% under industry average wages, the worst health care in the industry and below average retirement.

Look elsewhere if you're a pilot

A320 Captain (Current Employee)

I have been working at JetBlue full-time for more than 10 years

ProsWell maintained airplanes and a good group to fly with...at least the ones that have their head's out of the sand.

ConsZero job/career protections as well as true codified work rules. Most things can change via email with zero negotiation. Good luck to all of us in the event of a merger...

Advice to Senior ManagementPeople, Performance, Prosperity...remember?? You've got it backwards. Accountants are running this place based on excel spreadsheet computations; they've completely discounted the "people" factor. We will never be the next Southwest.

IT in jetBlue has become a department with no advancement and very low morale. No opportunity, poor leadership.

Crew Member (Current Employee)

I have been working at JetBlue

ProsIt used to be a much better place to work. The coworkers and other non-leadership staff within IT are good to work with and work hard (most managers and staff).

ConsTravel benefits are decent, tough to travel with your family.
Health benefits could be better, but aren't bad (I've had worse).
IT Leadership has managed to drive morale to very low levels, and make it repeatedly clear they have no appreciation for the staff, nor any intent to help develop the careers of the staff.
No promotion and career advancement from within for IT.
Talent and hard work is not rewarded within IT. Poor work, poor results and last minute heroism during major system outages is rewarded instead, preventing incentive to do good work the first time.
IT Leadership in the past couple of years has hired some inexperienced managers and directors with little technical knowledge and industry or IT experience from various parts of the country to agree to take on work and agree with IT Leaderships directives, staff is paid below market and given no incentive to put in that extra effort.
IT Leaderships goals are quantity over quality.
No interest in career development or growth, and it looks like the light at the end of the tunnel is outsourcing.

Advice to Senior ManagementLeadership outside of IT should take a look and see what's obvious to everyone within IT before everyone with talent and good ideas leaves. IT at jetBlue is in a poor state and will not be able to sustain the growth and direction jetBlue wants to go in its second decade. Promote from within and stop looking around the country for yes men to put in management positions.

Am I going to get called out even though I did not give my name in this survey?

Airport Operations (Current Employee)
Jacksonville, FL

I have been working at JetBlue

ProsI have a great scheudle now and I travel at least a few times a month. I am an people person. I love the interaction that I have with my customers especailly the regular ones. I love meeting customer from places that I have visited, it makes the job even more fun. I have even made a few friends with some of my customers.

ConsMechanical cancellations and honestly this swaping shift thing. Someone worked a 24 hour period hour shift and they only got paid straight time becasue they picked up shifts for some people. That is just plain wrong. I do understand rules behind it, but there should be some exceptions. This person picks up overtime and other people'sshifts often, but never 24 hours. The people in local leadership here smiled in that crewmember's face and said wow what a great job, but when that person got their paycheck, it said just the opposite.

Advice to Senior ManagementThey already know. It is sad that you have to come to a survey like this when you can not get you own issues resolved with management. I was told to go to my values group to get the crewmember's issue resolved and they took a month to respond to my email. I was so upset, I did not even want to respond back to it.
