Depends on who you work with..I really lucked out!

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Hampstead, MD

ProsRelaxed and laid back. You need to mange your time well and everything else fall in place by itself

ConsThey should not have married Mens Wearhouse. It'a a buzz kill for corporate employee and now we have to look opportunities outside of JAB.

Advice to Senior ManagementStart spreading the wealth and treat people fair and square. I understand the management needs to think about the shareholders' but what about the employees. Will have to wait and watch what Mens wearhouse transaction has in store for JAB employees.

    Great starting store manager job

Store Manager (Current Employee) New York, NY

ProsGood job for someone with an entrepreneurial sprit. Great product and good support staff. The regional support is great and they understand what the stores need.

ConsNo work-life balance, training systems are old/nonexistent.

Advice to Senior ManagementWhen you ask your team what you can do better or what the stores need, actually listen instead of berating and belittling individuals for having other ideas that may be contrary to your own.

    Challenging and rewarding work experience

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsThe fast pace at which the company reacts and evolves with respect to market events. Also the way the entire corporate team comes together to support the store operations.

ConsRetail is a 7-day a week commitment by the store associates and operations. Keeping pace with this is a hard thing to do for people who are used to regular hours and weekends off.

Advice to Senior ManagementUnderstand that you are asking the company associates to go beyond the call, and compensate or otherwise reward them accordingly.

Very beneficial towards education on professional dress.
For a college student, it is a great supplement towards getting the right attire for interviews, whether business professional or business casual.

    Great work experience!

Seasonal Help (Former Employee) Simsbury, CT

ProsManagement and coworkers were all very friendly. Flexible work hours. Not a strenuous job. Good pay.

ConsThey work you crazy hours during the holiday season.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe more considerate for employees during the holidays - theres no need for the store to open at 5 or 6 in the morning - no one ever comes in at that time.

Great experience in selling in a high volume environment. I was President Club member and top 20 in company.

Sales Executive (Former Employee) Atlanta, GA

ProsGreat product. It has some of the best wool on the market. You just feel good when you put on a Jos.A. Bank suit. I have always been aware of branding but Jos.A.Bank has the most foresight in marketing product I will ever seen. It by far the best.

ConsYou need to have your training in sales and management before you walk in the door. with the rapid growth of sold goods the tailor shop is taxed way past its payroll.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop getting rid of your best producers for silly reasons. Let your sales people sell during the high volume months and stop filling the floor with people the do not have a clue about the p.o.s policy at Jos.A. Banks.
