Tough time working as an engineer for

    Senior Product Engineer (Former Employee)
    Holland, MI

ProsThe people are great and will help work through any issues that come up. Day to day interactions are friendly and there is a great support community. There is a lot of movement in the organization so there is some opportunity for advancement, but you really have to work for it.

ConsThe leadership is very strongly focused on financial metrics and operations focus. There is not much of a bottom up approach to getting things done the right way. It is a struggle to get focus on technology and the correct technical solutions to problems. There are directives pushed down and a constant drive to be more budget focused and cost effective and to stay on schedule.

Advice to Senior ManagementMake this a better place to work for the people. They are motivated, but they need to be inspired to get the best out of them.

It was fine. I really enjoyed the different aspects of it.

    Project Coordinator (Former Employee)
    Plymouth Meeting, PA

ProsPretty good benefits. I had a very understanding manager who understood when I needed to work from home.

ConsMy department was shoved into a corner, so there was not much camaraderie between employees. When they restructured the company, they did not give me a fair shake on some other positions for which I may have been qualified.

Advice to Senior ManagementConsider paying project coordinators or those doing administrative work a better salary. Also there should not be so many chiefs and not enough Indians. As having done business with JCI from the outside, this is what the peeling the layers off so difficult.

it's ok... hard to be promoted but hard to be fired as well.

    Energy Engineer (Current Employee)
    Los Angeles, CA

ProsStability... flexibility of working at home.

Consno promotion.. been here five years.. they just don't want to pay you more.

Advice to Senior Managementyou have to pay to keep good staff in your organization.. There is only so much workflow and tools and products can do, when you hire bad staff.

Working on the account level vs working for JCI corporate makes a huge difference, the account level feel like step kids

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    King of Prussia, PA

ProsThey pay for mileage and some training if you make the effort to fight for it. People are nice. 401k match and flexible work from home option if applicable.

ConsThey don't seem to know what is going on (GWS) and everything keeps changing. Seeing our managers spread more thin with no end in sight. Don't have flexible hours or sick time if your children are sick, you have to take your limited vacation time. Not many opportunities for growth unless you're a manager, them they run you ragged.

Advice to Senior ManagementConsider flexible working schedules for office employees or part-time positions for working parents, better insurance plans, and use the integrity to treat your managers better.
