I worked at Johnson Controls full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

This was a pretty decent gig overall. The work was leading edge and technical, plenty of opportunity, management was fair enough (but it always depends on whom you report through).

    Cons

Big company, lots of ways to get lost in the shuffle.

I have been working at Johnson Controls full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Some great people. Opportunity to travel. Internal career movement is generally accepted and at times encouraged. This is a great thing.

    Cons

Leadership, at time is afraid to make bold effective moves. Prefers to stay with the old and ineffective. Dinosaurs are extinct for a reason, their inability to be flexible and adaptive to changing surroundings. JCI has done well with this in the big picture, but when it is looked at more closely, people are just trying to coast to retirement, and not rock the boat.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Recognize talent, reward it. There are some really talented, smart people that are overlooked everyday. I would also encourage transparency and honesty regarding our careers and futures.

I have been working at Johnson Controls full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great Benefits and access to tools that allow you to be successful. As long as you are meeting your goals you are given the autonomy to manage your own business and sales efforts among your assigned accounts.

    Cons

It seems like this company is driven by excessive micromanagement from corporate and regional managers, however, at the local level management will focus on minimizing road blocks to ensure success.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Less focus on old, internal process that adds no value to our clients.
