I have been working at KPIT Technologies full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good consultancy. Professional handling of employees. Not many levels of management, at least in US. Most times, end up working directly with the client.

    Cons

Looks like main thing is only the Profit & Loss sheet at the end of the quarter. The experienced people are seen more like a liability.

    Advice to Management

Experienced people needs to be given more opportunities for driving growth and development. Need to have some technical or engineering background people at the top.

I have been working at KPIT Technologies part-time

    Pros

I work for the branch of KPIT that was once I-Cubed. It is obvious that certain aspects of the smaller company are still prevalent in the office environment. Upper management preaches the "you have control of your own career" philosophy. If you are passionate about a specific vertical within the company and can make a good case about how you can make a strong impact, chances are good you'll get assigned to that vertical (based on the needs of the business, of course). The double-edged sword here is that you are primarily responsible for your own career growth. Work hours are primarily determined by the project you're on. But, management is very flexible with working remotely as long as you're getting your work done. Most people come into the office anywhere between 8-10am. Most managers are very laid back. I haven't seen any true incidents of micromanagement since I've been here. Most managers have faith in you to get your work done and that you'll reach out for assistance, if needed. The philosophy on asking for help is very healthy. They would rather you ask for help and succeed, than not ask for it and fail. There is no judgment or backlash for asking for help, unlike other companies at which I have worked.

    Cons

With the laissez faire attitude that most managers take, you are often left without much direction in terms of career progression. There are written career paths, but the timeline and steps to reach the next step aren't as clear as with other companies at which I've worked. Upper management has a tendency to focus only on the financial aspects of the company and fail to see the lack of structure and process that pervades the office. It often appears that there is a silent war between the sales dept and the technical delivery team. There is very little inter-departmental process and there have been many occasions where the breakdown results in incorrect information being communicated back to the customer. From what I know, there have been attempts to fix this (by one mid-level manager in particular), but without true buy-in from upper management, the attempts haven't been successful.

    Advice to Management

Invest in policy and procedure as much as you do in following sales leads.

    Pros

Respect for every Individual Vision of Top Leaders

    Cons

Most of the next level after the CEO is lost and is not connected with reality Trying to sell projects like Big 4 or specialized firms, but hiring and building delivery model like large India IT shops, the disconnect does not work in reality Slow in making changes

    Advice to Management

Evaluate your leaders and take action to replace them with internal candidates when they are not performing

I worked at KPIT Technologies full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It was my first ever company hence I got to learn a lot here. Work culture is good here though it depends on the project. For me in my first project, 'Denso' we worked really hard but there was a work life balance however in my If at all you want to learn and increase your knowledge you should definitely work here in your initial years but you need to compromise on the pay. If you have prior experience of 3 to 4 years and then you join KPIT they will give you really good pay.

    Cons

In my second project. 'Continental', it was a hectic schedule with no work life balance. We worked on weekends too for almost 3-4 months at a stretch. I was too tiring as we worked 4 to 5 hours overtime daily. As compared to the efforts we put in we did not get equivalent rise. Employee satisfaction was hugely affected due to this. The HR team would not let you change the project even though you have appropriate reasons instead they would say there are no other openings and I cannot let you change the project. They will not even change your role in the team easily. It will happen only if you put down your papers, only then you would get a role change. This caused so many employees to leave there job within joining of 2 or 3 months time.

    Advice to Management

Please take care of he project in initial days and see to it if the estimations are met. Please do not promise things to the clients for getting more business at the cost of employees. Keep the project in-sync with Project plan so that you don't loose resources as it has already happened for Continental Project.
