Great for accountants and seasoned consultants, not so great for new consultants

Advisory Associate (Current Employee)
Chicago, IL

I have been working at KPMG full-time for less than a year

ProsGreat benefits package. The firm will really take care of you. Connections to great experienced professionals, and a worldwide reputation.

ConsIn the advisory practice, things get pretty hit or miss. The risk service line is world-renowned, but the management consulting line is newer, and underdeveloped.

Advice to Senior ManagementInvest in practice development! There will never be a true culture for advisory unless the knowledge base is developed and more easily accessible. Keep trying to break down barriers between service networks.

Interesting place to work with clear rules of the game. This is for KPMG China.

Director Advisory (Current Employee)

I have been working at KPMG full-time

ProsConsulting leadership team capable of taking a longer-view. They focus on driving the right behaviors and trust that the market results will follow. Increasing transparency and clarity of strategy.

ConsDifficult to drive deep collaboration amongst the various parts of the organization. Must fight to secure resources and can't always match to market demand. Work-life balance comes under pressure, but hard to avoid this problem in professional services.
