Great Place to Work -- Fast Paced and Good Culture

Network Operations (Current Employee) Irvine, CA

    Pros- good group of people
    - culture
    - contributions to community
    - smart leaders, and down to earth
    - interesting products
    - multiple locations, vibrant cultures in each
    - a lot of technology
    - monthly celebrations and recognitions
    - social media footprint that brings everyone together
    - senior leadership that is always willing to take the time for employees

Cons- technical debt that has to be managed (think that may be due to the nature of healthcare as a whole though)
    - not always enough time to get things done, but that's not really different from pretty much anywhere else
    - open seating can be a bit hard to concentrate at times, but there are plenty of quiet places

Advice to Senior Management- keep promoting and supporting the culture

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Environment promotes open collaboration between groups. The culture is progressive and work is challenging. Hours are flexible which helps provide some balance between work and life. Love the ping pong table.

ConsWork/life balance is ok, but sometimes can be challenging with our fast paced growth. No 401k matching.

Even at their worst, Kareo is pretty good.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Irvine, CA

ProsGreat office, perks like lunch, yoga, flexible hours, etc. Very talented people and a diverse workforce. Excellent vision helping small practices.

ConsLong hours, lack of growth and limited vision.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep your talented people, and empower them. Let them work on the items that are most impactful to the customer, not shareholders.

Account Manager (Current Employee) Las Vegas, NV

    ProsGreat wok environment
    Happy employees
    Lots of room to advance
Awesome to be a part of such a fast growing company

ConsThings are moving so fast sometimes it feels like we might fall off the ledge!

Advice to Senior ManagementContinue to improve on the software itself. Many things that need to be upgraded in order to service clients in the way we all want to. Its a great product now but with the massive growth we need to focus on making it EXCELLENT not just great

    Work Hard, Play Hard

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Indianapolis, IN

ProsGreat culture, fun people, exciting industry, travel opportunities, we get to dress pretty much however we want, executive team tries to stay involved from the ground up, free private fitness classes

ConsThe company almost doubled in size (in terms of number of employees) in the last year or so, so it's been tough to keep open lines of communication and consistent messaging across all departments.

Advice to Senior ManagementMake more time for one on ones and skip level meetings. I think everyone at every level in the company needs to have direct and open communication with those who are "in the bull pen" and actually talking to our prospects and customers all day every day.

Hit the ground running and try to keep up!

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Irvine, CA

    Pros*positive/creative work environment
*rapid, continuous growth of the company. Kareo has been growing by leeps and bounds since the start.
    *Fosters and promotes teamwork
*Flexible/dynamic company that can change directions on a dime in needed and is always open to new suggestions and ideas from staff/clients and peers
*Seeks continues feedback and listens to that feedback
*Very smart, professional people here at Kareo- I come away from meetings knowing I am working with some of the top people in our respective fields
    *flexible vacation and time off
*Promotes a "be cool" attitude and provides a pretty laid back environment

Cons*Expect to work at a very fast pace from day one. You will have to hit the ground running to keep up with how Kareo moves.
*You have to know your field and be a self starter. You will sink or swim very fast here.
    *Demanding hours
*Higher then industry normal for quotas and goals- the bar is sometimes set a little too high
*NO BONUS (first job ever where there is no bonus for holidays, end of year, or making goals)

Advice to Senior ManagementCommunicate- the all staff meetings with Dan have gone over very well and I hope they continue- its great to know where we are heading every few months.
Look for ways to cross-train departments- and educate and team build between departments
Continue to promote the Kareo Culture and make sure we are all living it and enjoying it

Want the opportunity to impact change and be part of something special, Kareo is the place for you!

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsThey really take care of their employees - juicing, yoga and boot camp are just a few examples, LOVE IT! It is awesome to feel appreciated. The people are amazing, passionate about Kareo and what we do.

ConsWe're a growing small business with high expectations, so there is lots to get done! Sometimes we're moving so fast that we forget to communicate all the exciting stuff going on.

Advice to Senior ManagementAs we grow it will become more difficult to access all levels of the organization - don't forget to remain accessible! Keep your doors open :)

A software company hunting for glory.

    Director (Current Employee) Irvine, CA

    Pros- Product has transformative potential.
    - A very dynamic company that is willing to adjust based on changing circumstances.
    - Everyone from top to bottom is passionate and want to do the right thing; epitomizes doing what's right, rather than who's right.
    - Great people.

Cons- Sometimes it feels like the company is trying to boil the ocean.
    - Being dynamic is a double edged sword. Switching gears has its costs in morale and confidence.
    - Alignment across organizations has been a challenge. In the Kareo's defense though, it is recognized deficiency and is actively being remedied.

Advice to Senior Management- Align the goals of the different departments.
    - Internal business operational processes need focus.

Never expect a dull moment at Kareo.

Customer Support Representative (Current Employee) Irvine, CA

ProsKareo is constantly trying new ways to keep their employees happy and providing a great work environment. This is anything from free fitness classes to a great break room stocked with Netflix and video games.

ConsWhen I first started Kareo offered great Medical benefits covered at 100%. With the new year those benefits were cut way down and the employees now have to pay out of pocket for the better options. The only free ones are the ones that are very limited.

Advice to Senior ManagementIt would be nice to see more opportunities for different projects or positions. Being a customer service rep is not a position that most people can stay very long in.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company
