    Fast growing company

Quality Control Chemist (Current Employee) Des Moines, IA

ProsKemin is a good place to work. It's a family owned company, with plenty of employees who have been there 20 plus years. The bonus program is nice, and there are a lot of perks provided to employees over the year.

ConsKemin struggles with their growth sometimes. People are overworked before management recognizes that additional resources are needed. And then it's even longer before you get them.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

    A Good Place to Work

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsGood work life balance. In my experiance, culture is flexible and accomodating to a personal life. Your job is what you make of it, some people advance very quickly, others stagnate. Seems to be a constant effort to improve the company, recognizing weaknesses and working to correct them.

ConsThe company is growing fast-maybe too fast. Most business units have outgrown the space allotted to them. I'm also oftentimes confused on how certain employees make it to management positions.

Advice to Senior ManagementWork on developing and retaining your quality employees. If an employee shows potential, don't refuse to promote based solely on years of experiance.

    Research Associate (Current Employee)

ProsEmployees are fairly compensated for their work and are often rewarded for their hard work.

ConsIt can be difficult to advance depending on the position or sister company for which you belong.

Advice to Senior ManagementAllow subordinates to live up to their potential.

Great company, but has a very bureaucratic and conservative culture.

Marketing Intern (Current Employee) Des Moines, IA

    Pros- Great people
    - Good pay
    - Good internship program
    - Company is genuinely interested in your success and growth as a person and employee

    Cons- Very bureaucratic
    - Very "blah" products, however, most B2B companies don't have very exciting products
    - Company doesn't like to take any risks whatsoever

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep focusing on employee happiness, but try to take some risks to attract younger candidates.

Kemin is a great place to work.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsThe company was very positive and open to change over time. I had only a part-time temporary internship but I felt very welcome and accepted, and all employees were quick to aid me in my endeavors. I had the opportunity to see different aspects of the business. While I primarily did data entry, my superiors tried to include me on important aspects of their jobs as well.

ConsThe company had very lofty goals that made the work seem meaningless at times. The work I performed was mundane, but I served the purpose of my post. I was hired by one manager, whom left after just a few months, and afterwards I didn't have much direction.

Advice to Senior ManagementMake sure to inform new employees of expected results.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
