I have been working at KeyBank full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The work life balance is good. Remote, mobility centers, and standard offices/cubes are supported through capitalization. Upper and lower management are effective. Very customer/area oriented with community bank bank model focus implementing super regional resources.

    Cons

Upward career tracks are somewhat challenged at lower end with efficiency initiatives. Healthcare benefits discourage families but this seems to be the trend nation wide. Healthcare benefits took a hit in 2014 but this may be partially due to new legislation. Turnover of middle management seems to be more than average.

I have been working at KeyBank full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great vacation time, and a very good work/life balance. Willing to assist with pursuing continuing education whether it be certifications or college courses. The people are great as well.

    Cons

Highly Silo'd environment. Although this is understandable since it is a Financial institution and as such is highly regulated.

Limited opportunities to branch out and work on other technologies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote from within the company when possible. Limit the amount of outsourcing, particularly the outsourcing to other countries. It very much harms employee morale.

The conservative credit culture at Key saved the Bank

    Pros

    Training program is pretty good
    Lots of swag
    Decent benefits even for part-timers

    Cons

Employee Goals are a bit unreasonable
If you want to advance in your career, you have to *really* like being in the banking industry

I have been working at KeyBank

    Pros

Flexible work arrangements, opportunities for advancement, friendly and knowledgeable people to work with. Our CEO is very focused on employee development and making Key Bank a great place to work.

    Cons

Very political environment. The organization needs to focus on better managing multiple generations in the work place. Decisions are primarily made by Senior Leadership that is not always in touch with or in agreement with Generation X and Millennial Generation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn to make decisions faster. The politics within the company are a huge turn off to Generation X and Millennials. If you want to keep them around, and benefit from the strengths that they bring to the table, make sure that Baby Boomers understand them and have Senior Leadership figure out a way where the company can benefit from the wisdom and experience of the Baby Boomers and incorporate that to the out of the box thinking and energy from other generations.
