    Senior Management Nightmare

    Senior Research Scientist (Former Employee)
    Neenah, WI

Pros- #1 is the people. Although so much talent has left KC, there are still some wonderful people left.
    - Parking is good

Cons- Senior mgmt is completely out of touch, yet they try so hard to make you believe they care. Pathetic.
    - Lower level managers try to please their bosses to be the next "pet".
    - SO much talent has left this company it is truly sad. Experience is not valued.
    - Company has been on a 8 year cost savings journey that now has come to "Burn the Furniture".
    - The next step to save money is to implement new pay standards to become "competitive". This is easily seen as cutting salaries and benefits.
    - Performance Management system that continues to kill morale while wasting tons of time.
    - Senior leadership views employees as a number, a headcount, and not a person. You can be replaced and you may be soon.

Advice to Senior ManagementI can't give any true advice to our the leadership at KC since they continue down the same path even after being told by many people, myself included, about how employees feel about Performance Manager, salary modifications, downsizing, etc. I finally decided leaving was the only intelligent option and my best way to communicate my disapproval to management. For all my friends left at KC - I hope things change soon - best wishes.

Finance folks: This is a toxic company

    Business Analyst (Former Employee)
    Neenah, WI

ProsCompetitive salary and benefits, especially for northeastern Wisconsin. A chance to learn about budgeting, short-term forecasting, and the other fundamentals of corporate finance.

ConsSenior management is uncommunicative. Turf fights abound. The lack of cooperation in senior management communicates downward to the troops. There is zero innovation in finance -- a strong resistance to any kind of change. Certainly the unfriendliest, nastiest place I've ever worked. By all means avoid Consumer Products.

    Not recommended

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Roswell, GA

ProsWork Flexibiiity and really good co-workers on your teams. It's a great place to make friends. People work well together on teams.

Cons-It is hard to advance if you were not recruited in from college
-Incompetence in management at many levels
    -Culture of fear
-Many issues that do not get addressed
-Angry, upset, disgruntled employees at all levels
-Cannot hold on to top talent because they leave after short periods of time

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement needs training on how to be leaders. Many people in leadership are not true leaders. They do not know how to develop people and they do not value diversity of opinion. If KC had better management, this would be a great company to work for and KC. Employees currently are working to do the bare minimum to hold onto a job, not to really see the business grow and prosper. There is unethical behavior at many levels of leadership and no one is addressing it.

    Disappointing

    Senior Research Scientist (Former Employee)
    Neenah, WI

ProsIt used to have quality products and value quality in their employees.
It's easy to snow the current management.

ConsManagement is now comprised of those who could not make it otherwise, so disappointing.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe doers have left, or are leaving the company. Their talent, while "expensive" is what made the company what it was. If you aren't expanding and producing new, sell off and pay off the retirees.

    Don't bother

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Lagrange, GA

ProsDecent benefits, lower level employees are fairly nice, the pay was once great for the area but now its more mediocre.

ConsKC is running in 50 different directions at once and it shows, the work/life balance may be nice at other mills but here it is horrid, 12 hour rotating shifts and management hides out in the parking lot to catch anyone coming in late, the "validation" system they have setup is the dumbest thing I have ever seen as you are constantly having to re-interview for your job, very clique based i.e. if you aren't rubbing elbows with the higher ups not only do you stand no chance of promotion but it becomes very hard to get even a regular raise, do not even think of taking a break during a scheduled down you are expected to work your 12 hours with a 15 min lunch any more than that and they start breathing down your neck.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou have people working the machines that not only know what they are doing but have been doing it for 15-20 years and do it well, listen to them and take their advice to heart. Also stop trying to make this into more than it is, its just a mill job and all of this validation review board stuff is just trying to make it seem more important than it really is, no one wants to stand in front of you guys for an hour explaining the mechanics of a wound roll while you look on with no idea of what we are talking about.

    Stuck with no vision

    Engineer IV (Current Employee)

ProsAverage compensation, supportive wellness programs, good people

Consno growth strategy, no vision, very risk adverse, more years of service = dead end career

Advice to Senior ManagementThis company is stuck, does not walk the talk. run by a bean counter, and all decisions are financial - ALL DECISIONS. Risk is managed down to 0. Meetings upon meetings, meetings to review what will be presented in the upcoming meeting so managers are not surprised. "The Office" was written by a guy at this company!!

    Never again

    Creative Manager (Former Employee)
    Roswell, GA

ProsGood pay, excellent benefits and employee support programs.

ConsEvery negative symptom of "big corporate culture," Kimberly Clark had. No room for innovation or idea input. Leadership that was only concerned with looking good to their superiors and a general lack of caring among employees.

Advice to Senior ManagementI don't even know what to advise. My experience was that bad. I'll never work for another large company again, especially one so controlling. Maybe my personality didn't mesh well with the culture. I work much better in smaller, more entrepreneurial settings and have been very happy since I left for a smaller company.

KC USED TO BE A GOOD PLACE TO WORK

    Employee (Current Employee)
    Loudon, TN

ProsKimberly Clark isn't laying off the workers as of yet. We still have good business and sales are great. If you you have been there over 15 years you make pretty good money.

ConsWe have gone from not paying anything for our insurance to paying out the butt. They continue to cut our benifits. Clothing allowance went 160 to 80 no longer offer us to buy an extra week vacation what was called FLEX DAYS and said they took that away because they were having to backfill those jobs when they don't let anybody work any overtime so that's WRONG. We used to be able to come in and work on our career plans and also help out on the floor wherever needed. Most people take a major cut in pay to come to Loudon Mill and that used to be ok because we could come in and work overtime to make up for the lost wages. All the new management has done since they have been here is take away or fire people. Loudon HAD a TEAM CONCEPT but now we don't really have any say so in anything. They being Management have took what we at Loudon have worked 20 years to accomplish, (career plans, the way things are handled, vacation coverage, sick leave coverage, and etc.) and thrown it out the door. They say if don't like it here, go find you another job. They don't seem to care about their employees at all anymore. Can't say I would tell anybody it's a good place to work anymore. Used to love going to work and now that's all changed.

Advice to Senior ManagementGo away. Get people like we used to have that care about the employees and involve us in discussions that are effecting our lives and our families. Don't give Tom Falk all these bonuses when you take away from the workers.

Uses economy as an excuse(not a reason) to bleed the employees of their benefits and pay

    Employee (Current Employee)
    Loudon, TN

ProsUse to be decent pay and benefits. Use to be able to have an oppurtunity for advancement in career. Had flexibility in time off for different reasons.

ConsNo good morale left and management (SO CALLED ----LEADERSHIP) doesn't care at all. They tell you that "if you don't like it, go somewhere else to work." They have done nothing to build onto what Loudon has been about and accomplished for 18 years. Since their arrival, they have done nothing but take things and jobs away from the employees and are very "just numbers" oriented. They have not shown any concern toward employee morale or how they feel about their employment at KC. They have a track record of reducing workforce and increasing the stress and hatred of working for KC Loudon. They are so blinded by just focusing on numbers and cost, that they have not even noticed that their real success is in the people. PEOPLE ARE A COMPANY'S BEST ASSETS. They will lie to you about reasons for decisions being made and blame it on the corporation. "Like we are that damn stupid."
The CEO (C_ries E_very O_ppurtunity) whines about not meeting expectations and decides to eliminate jobs and people wellfare and lives that they have put into the company, and what does he personally do? HE AND HIS EXECs POCKET THERE MONEY IN BONUSES, be it in stock and options or cash. He acts like KC is being too good to their employees in their benefits and compensation, so they reduce it and blame it on the economy and act like they are being more competitive with other companies by comparison. Well, lets look at THEIR benefits and compensation compared to those same companies and see if they are in the same light. Senior management for KC seems to be setting examples for the leadership at Loudon, they only seem to care about their own wellfare and pockets.

Advice to Senior ManagementFire the leadership at Loudon mill.
