Nice Place to work just don't get stuck on a PIP

Administrative Assistant II (Current Employee)
Neenah, WI

I have been working at Kimberly-Clark full-time for more than 5 years

ProsGreat place to work with work/life balance

ConsPerformance Review system is horrible. You get put into boxes that rate you.... However, there HAS to be a certain % of folks that fall within the low boxes. If you end up as one of those folks you are digging yourself out of a hole for at least a year or more and you are not allowed to even apply for another area within the company.
Benefits are a bit pricey.

Great development experiences, now tend to stall out at higher levels

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Roswell, GA

I have been working at Kimberly-Clark full-time for more than 10 years

ProsI've had great development experiences across various sectors of the business, and in different locations. Lots of responsibility, even when I was junior with the firm. Good resources to help mentor and grow talent within.

ConsTrend over the last 5-7 years has been to hire externally (and, usually with dubious success.) Add that to much into narrower career ladders as a result of restructures. So, it's been harder to get development into director level and higher as they've been filling the few positions that exist from outside when they do open up.

Advice to Senior ManagementRethink your development roles below MAAP/director--you need to have them. Create a formal development program for high potential talent and then use it judiciously.

Conservative CPG Fortune 500 Company

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Knoxville, TN

I have been working at Kimberly-Clark full-time for more than 10 years

ProsFocused on growth of their people more than in the past; becoming an environmentally conscious company despite selling mostly disposable product lines

ConsConservative leadership and culture tends to slow down innovation and positive cultural changes such as more flexible work arrangements.

Advice to Senior ManagementEncourage all levels of management to embrace flexible work arrangements. Really challenge smart risk taking; our conservative values often hold us back from achieving the success we want.

Performance Review

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Conway, AR

I have been working at Kimberly-Clark full-time for more than 10 years

ProsGood pay, very safety aware. Opportunity to buy product a low cost. Monthly incentives to win gift cards, production results, safety results. Great benefits.

ConsPerformance review is based on a pyramid concept. Only a few can be at the top and so many MUST be at the bottom. You are calibrated against everyone that works there, not just your department. Results are based on perceptions and not necessarily the facts.
