    I worked at Kindred Healthcare

    Pros

Management was supportive, feeling I'd closeness with other employees.

    Cons

Hard work , sometimes understaffed, geographically challenging workload due to layout of the building

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Talk to each employee. Don't schedule town hall meetings and repeatedly cancel them. Follow through on promises.

I have been working at Kindred Healthcare full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

With the recent change in CIO the company is beginning to recognize the importance of IT/IS. If the company continues in the current direction it could be a leader in the industry.

    Cons

At heart, this is an old school healthcare company and IT/IS employees are often treated like a necessary evil.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promoting and recognizing your own employees would be cheaper than watching them all leave and having to train new employees.

I have been working at Kindred Healthcare

    Pros

It is difficult to identify a pro. Conditions there are really bad.

    Cons

Staff patient ratio's are terrible. Corporate knows but no one cares because we bring in lots of money. License liability

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire a group of managers who actually put patients before dollars and who speak English

I have been working at Kindred Healthcare part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Small facility where people care about each other. Lots of great coworkers who care about our patients.

    Cons

    Benefits need to be improved.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Our managers work really hard to keep us properly staffed but have a difficult time with the budget allowances. 8 to 1 patient ratios are not ideal. 6 to 1 at a maximum is what needs to be set as the standard of practice and into policy somewhere. To have no set standard there makes it where if staffing is not available nurses could end up with no absolute maximum number of patients.
