    Pros

Amazing team members, fun environment, great products, decent discount

    Cons

Upper management does not care about the welfare of the store or its employees, management will not take responsibility for ANYTHING, pay is low, too much dishonesty in management.

    Advice to Management

LISTEN TO THE EMPLOYEES. The welfare of this store is in jeopardy all because upper management is too lazy to take care of the store and the employees. Absolutely disgraceful.

    Pros

It is a great place to work the shifts are only 5 hours unless you are part of the manager team. They were very flexiable with the hours I was able to work, good discount, the mangers are always very professional.

    Cons

You do a lot of work always something to do, they can't keep their help people always leaving for more money elsewhere , computers very slow,

    Advice to Management

Advice to Corporate should evaluate the team members salaries based on the area they work in so maybe they can keep their employees longer.

Great opportunity for team building within the store. Great customer base.

    Cons

Corporate Management is unorganized and make decision on a whim.

    Advice to Management

Save yourself the heartache. Manager lifespan is 3 to 5 years

    Pros

You're inside, out of the elements of rain, heat, cold or inclement weather.

    Cons

You're only working 12-20 hours (unless you're management) without benefits of any kinds. From my experience with this company, the employment process is SLOW at best. I started this process 5 weeks. My first interview was the following week. An open position for a 3rd manager at 20 hours a week. Not a position which a degree in rocket science. Never heard back after the interview. A few weeks later I receive a call from another store and I again interview for a back room stock handler at 12-15 hours per week. I'm told that males RARELY apply for a job with this company. I explain I'm retired (51 years old btw) and looking for something to do outside the house. I've done manual labor since I was 12. Again I thought it was a good interview but never hear back. I waited 2 weeks and called the female manager back. She himhaws around and finally says she's not sure I'm a good fit for unloading boxes from a truck and shelving them. Really? You have a store full of ladies who I'm sure aren't thrilled about lifting 450 heavy, bulky boxes per week.

    Advice to Management

One of the first questions asked in an interview is why do you want to be a part of team Kirklands. A company that discriminates against hiring veterans and males for 12 hour a week jobs.

    Not the best

    I worked at Kirkland's

    Pros

Somewhat of a decent discount, friendly co-workers and good customer base. Works with schedule easily. Laid back job for those of whom like it.

    Cons

Very slow and boring. You don't get many hours when on seasonal hiring and if you aren't the managers favorite, then they make it known. You are pressured to make a percentage over 70% of K-club attachments eventhough more times than not customers aren't interested. You get paid the bare minimum and it's an overall waste of time. Not on the top of my list for recommended jobs.

    Advice to Management

Stop playing favorites and actually pay attention to your employees and the hard work theyre putting in.

    Pros

Small store, mostly laid back environment, lots coupons for customers, employees get a decent discount, decent seasonal training

    Cons

Too low pay for all of the work required. No way you can live off of minimum wage, not even a college kid

    Advice to Management

All managers were great except one... Just make sure you PAY YOU EMPLOYEES what they deserve. And that's more than SLIGHTLY above minimum wage for all the work required

    Pros

Beautiful products to look at and work with. Decent 20% discount. A few friendly co-workers. Decent shopping center surrounds the store.

    Cons

The manager is complete jerk. When u interview he tells you that he's not a "caring, emotional person" and that he has a "brash personality" that can come off as "rude" but we should just get used to it. He then told stories of how former employees left their jobs there because of his rudeness. All the managers talk about the employees like they're in high school and they talk about on another behind each other's back as well. There is definitely favoritism and seasonal employees get treated like crap.

    Advice to Management

try to encourage your employees. How about saying "good job today" or "I like how you did that " saying to someone that you are brash and misunderstood is no reason or excuse to be downright rude. Chastising your employees in front of your customers is completely unprofessional.
