    Strange situation, horrible experience.

    Store Manager (Current Employee)

ProsI liked helping customers find their kitchen needs. I liked some of the product.

ConsRegional was friends with one of my subordinates and she stayed with her while performing store visits. She would text everyone but me about store business.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou should do some protective interviews with the sales staff. Let them tell you what is going on.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Sinking Company

    Assistant Manager (Current Employee)

    ProsGood people at store level.
    Great repeat customers.
    Interesting merchandise selection.
    Opportunities to learn about cooking.
Good starter job for the retail industry.

    ConsPoorly informed corporate team.

Too much fumbling around by corporate staff.

Dwindling hours provided to store teams, which in turn hurts sales, which they then respond to by cutting hours, which in turn hurts sales, so on and so forth.

Too much merchandise overflow from discontinued product, unwilling to enact sales to clear away old merchandise, which affects store appearance, potentially reducing sales.

Company is losing more money each year. Poor financial outlook.

Lack of vision prevents real long-term solutions to store and company problems.

Sensitive to criticism, preventing a supposed "open door" policy.

All of the above is crippling company morale, which corporate has no concept of.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe ship is sinking. Temporary patches aren't working. This company needs a broad, and most importantly, complete rework of what it wants to be. No longer is it enough to merely respond to results, you must get ahead of the problem and guide the company with a clear and unified vision. If you don't, then you are already sitting at the bottom of the sea.

    No training or help

Store Manager (Former Employee) Mentor, OH

ProsGreat repeat customers, great co-workers. Made alot of friends.

ConsLimited training, very little communication from regional team(except for 1 assistant), amount of products received on shipments was ridiculous!!

Advice to Senior ManagementGet your regional and assistant regionals to do their job and take the time to train people and answer their questions. I had an assistant regional manager that actually told one of my employees that they deleted my emails! Coordinate your truck shipments and merchandise ordering to the store's actual size. One size shipment does not fit all stores!

    Store Manager

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsCustomers, when they do come in are fantastic to talk to. Worked with a great group of people with in the store.

ConsCommunication with Regional team is horrible. They call and complain when sales are down but not when your store hits its goal. Very little help or training from the Regional team when I first started there.

Advice to Senior ManagementVery little communication with Regional team. They do not return phone calls most of the time. Sales are declining and I believe the corporate office needs to realign or get rid of some of the Regional Management that don't do their jobs and allow the stores to communicate directly to home office. This would improve their loss of revenue. They also need to invest in the store locations to attract customers. My location was in a former store that went out of business and looks nothing like a Kitchen store.
