I worked at Kitchen Collection part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Fun place to work if you like to cooking gadgets and appliances. You talk with the customers all day about cooking devices and techniques. Many of the gadgets are new to the customer so you get to teach them how the device will benefit their cooking experience.

    Cons

Return policy for merchandise is lacking against those of rival companies. If I were going to spend any sizable amount of money on a product I would do so where I could return it to the store and not have to deal with the product warranty alone.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If economically feasible I would suggest updating the office technology, starting with newer computer hardware and updated intranet.

Some great people to work with, but they expect a lot from their store managers.

I have been working at Kitchen Collection full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Easy atmosphere and allowed to run my store as i feel it needs run. Enjoy the customers and the product line.

    Cons

Salaries are low for the the level of work expected. I made more running a store with lower volume, a third the size and with less hassles. Departments don't communicate with each other, fulfillment is a labor nightmare, low labor hours and LOTS of extra time and expectations for the salaried manager to put in without additional compensation or bonus. Regional manager doesn't return phone calls, hard to get answers. Health care was taken from everyone in Feb 2014. Very little work life balance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consistency, back up your store managers instead of heaping all the work on them.. cutting labor hours during the busiest time of the year, expecting 6 day work weeks and tons of extra time on salary with no bonus on incentives.

Store manager, stores are mostly set up in malls and you cannot control the traffic.

I worked at Kitchen Collection full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Company has a good reputation for product and customer service. Insurance and paid vacations.

    Cons

Very little training for managers provided and very little help with employee situations. Long hours for managers and unrealistic goals.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Stores need ADVERTISEMENT!

I have been working at Kitchen Collection full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Flexible schedule, can have great co-workers, pretty simple job, fun environment.

    Cons

Low pay, no communication with corporate, retail hours, not a very stable job-locations are always closing, hard to get full time or vacation pay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do more advertiser in and maybe people would know that you're actually there. Check more often on what your regional managers are doing-we rarely heard from them.

I have been working at Kitchen Collection

    Pros

Once you get the hang of it, it's pretty straight-forward. Being in Florida, the customers are usually tourists, women who like to shop, and peole usually in a good mood. Thus, I usually never have a problem with rude/annoying customers. Customer service is really important here and the co-workers are usually friendly and pleasent to work with which also pleases the customers and lends to a pretty positive environment.

    Cons

The usual of retail- sometimes you have to do the work of more than one person when working alone such as unpack boxes to check with inventory to then put on shelf while greeting customers and doing register. Usually it's managable, but I may not be the best man for the job sometimes as sometimes I get a bit spacy and need a break- but working alone for 4 hours I cannot always work as fast as I should.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Actually, they run the place pretty well as far as I know. I am not a asst. man or GM so I don't know everything.

    I worked at Kitchen Collection

    Pros

The people that I worked directly with where Inspiring. The day to day job is not very hard. It can be frustrating at times, because there are constant plan o gram changes, but cuts in payroll. The salary was just OK. Wages where frozen for Two years.

    Cons

Communication from upper management was poor to nonexistent. Half the time they just don't answer their phones.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You need to get out to the stores and see whats really going on. There is zero communication between the stores and corp.
