    Pros

They are very flexible with your schedule if you need them to be, most of the co-workers are really fun to work with.

    Cons

Horrible pay, over worked for minimum wage, required to go everything in the store for the same pay as the cashiers, horrible unorganized management, no comunicación between management, worst manager I have

    Advice to Management

Management is horribly unorganized. There is no communication between different supervisors and managers. By far the worst manager I have ever worked for. He does not care about his employees. Because of his attitude all of the best employees at his store are leaving and the ones that are the worst are staying. Customers get tired of waiting for assistance and it is not the employees' fault it is because the store is understaffed by unqualified people and corporate requires cashiers to waste customers time by asking for a million things during check out, like Shop Your Way rewards and donations to different things. This slows down the checkout process drastically.

    Pros

Store discount... that's is the only pro I can think of

    Cons

Terrible hours, store was always hot, unreasonable managers, no accountability, everybody working there is miserable

    Advice to Management

The managers act like you're being paid $75/hr for the demands they wanted done, and would get angry if things weren't done quickly. You can't expect an A+ effort from people who are making $8.50/hr when similar stores like JCPenney and Macy's pay much more. Hard work is not rewarded, it's actually the opposite. If you prove you're a hard worker, you get more work, while slackers do nothing and make same money. No incentive to be a good worker, other than to not listen to your manager complain. I really believe they don't train the managers properly in Kmart; the people skills of all of the managers was so weak it makes me wonder how they got promoted to their positions. This store, and Sears as a corporation, really needs to change their business model. Investors aren't happy, customers aren't happy, and employees sure aren't happy; avoid this place at all costs.

    Pros

you do not need a lot of skill to work at Kmart. they will train, they are always training employees. the staff is generally very friendly with each other.

    Cons

Much is expected of supervisors and managers, for not enough pay. Stores are closing all over the place without notice, so a constant fear of having no job in the morning looms overhead all night.

    Advice to Management

Follow through on promises to staff, expectations get raised and then forgotten about, or worse falsely raised and dashed. Pay raises for all staff below store managers would go far to raise moral.

    Pros

You get paid every Friday? There weren't any pros to working here specifically.

    Cons

    - Coworkers. Very few were kind. Many were competitive, envious, and downright mean. Too much gossiping here. There's no working as a team.

    - Bosses. Malicious at worst, incompetent at least, except for one Assistant Manager.

-Merchandise. Nothing you can be proud of.

Overall, just a very miserable place to work.

    Advice to Management

    Manage this place. Be Managers.

    Pros

They gave a lot of hours even though I was technically part-time (I usually worked 40 hours per week after starting out around 28 or 30). Not too many other good things I can say about this job.

    Cons

The store was almost always in total disarray. Prices on the shelves were constantly wrong and they left it up to the cashiers to explain to the customers why they weren't getting the price shown--because of poor management and others' incompetence. I could go on and on with nightmare stories from my time there, but if you've ever shopped in a Kmart, that should be enough already to convince you not to work there.

    Advice to Management

Get you act together. Don't leave sale prices from weeks ago still posted on the shelves and then scratch your heads as to why customers expect to get different prices from those that show up when the products are scanned at the registers. Pay a fair wage.

    Cons

Everything, rude customers, my management was rude as well, I had to leave.

    Pros

Hours usually scheduled around your life

    Cons

    Low pay
    No room for advancement
No employees to help on the floor
More focus on unloading trucks in a certain amount of time than customer service
Any full time positions that open up are given to any long term employees or friends of management with no consideration of experience for actual job.

    Advice to Management

Stop placing all the work on a few employees.

    Pros

There are no good reasons to work at Kmart unless you need a paycheck that bad.

    Cons

Management is non existent and lazy and dont communicate with each other, dont know whats going on in their own store. The pay is ridiculous; was trained for half the store on minimum wage and never given a raise. Job postings were never listed and any that ever opened were given to the favorites even if they had no experience. What applied to one employee didnt apply to everyone. You get hardly any hours but the HR wouldnt cooperate with scheduling so you could have a second job. Management would take hour long breaks in the eatery first thing in the morning instead of working and again at night if they closed. All the equipment was old and broken plus you never had any proper training and if something wrong happened and you called management for help you were on your own.

    Advice to Management

Shut your doors. No one wants you here anyway. Either that or get new policies that are actually followed.

    Pros

Fun coworkers. Not much more to the store that's a pro.

    Cons

Very rude customer atmosphere, terrible employee services, bad scheduling, and rude managers

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees as you would family! Not robots! And don't automatically assume that because someone is out of school, you can go ahead and change their scheduling avaliability from open to close.
