Former Employee - Retail Cashier in Phoenix, AZ

    Pros

The jobs cake, its easy getting approved for days off, the cash register couldn't be more simpler, The managers where uplifting and positive.

    Cons

The pay!! It's Minimum wage! ..How does anybody survive on that??! ...And how many credit card apps did you guys need from me?? ...Better show me the money!! ..No benefits for pitching and collecting credit card applications. That's the only thing that bothered me here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This company could excel even more than they are if they had extra benefits or a commission from collecting those Kohls credit card apps.

Current Employee - Loss Prevention Supervisor
Current Employee - Loss Prevention Supervisor

    Pros

This really only applies to Loss Prevention jobs- flexibility with writing your own schedule for LP supervisors, relaxed dress code, decent benefits

    Cons

Lack of ethics and professionalism that runs deep with store management, district management, and loss prevention. almost impossible to get promoted past an LP supervisor position, the store hours are getting increasingly out of hand (i.e. open 24 hours the week before Christmas, opening at 8pm on Thanksgiving Day, etc)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Develop your people and actually promote them instead of always choosing outside hires or hires from the corporate office rather than within the LP store division. It would improve morale to see your peers moving up occasionally, even if you still haven't had the opportunity. Actually take a look at what goes on in the stores. The district managers often are aware of issues and turn a blind eye.

Former Employee - Ad Set Associate in Lavale, MD

    Pros

Flexible scheduling, management always thanked me for a job well done or volunteering to come in to cover a shift.

    Cons

Did not like having to push the credit card and pester people for their emails, but it was part of our annual evaluation. Not that the raises were anything to write home about. The store was often understaffed to save on payroll.
