Current Employee – been working at Kohl's part-time for more than 3 years
Pros – It is a company that truly cares about the community it donates a lot to children. They host many charity events for the employees to help out in the local community. The benefits are better than most entry level jobs around. Employee discounts are great.
Cons – The pay is very low. You are expected to work hard although the pay is low. Corporate sets time frames for things that need to be done. They are not the ones doing the work and do not realize that the time allowed is not realistic. It tends to discourage employees when they are not able to meet the time requirements.
Advice to Senior Management – Corporate needs field trips to stores and experience what it is they are expecting in the time frame allowed. They also need to pay very close attention to the store managers they hire. The store manager can make or break the store. If the store manager is a leader and a manager it brings the store moral up and the store works harder together to succeed. However recently another store manager has come who has no leadership and no people skills, the store has, and will suffer, because the employees are no longer working hard and in fact, rebelling by not working hard. A leader with good people skills is the most important part of the success of the individual stores

Former Employee – worked at Kohl's full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – I worked in the call center and started as a regular associate on the phones all day. In 9 months I was promoted to Team Lead. They do a great job of recognizing employees and creating fun monthly incentives. If you do your job well and have a great attitude you will be promoted quickly!
Cons – Nights and weekends are tough, especially because when you get promoted, you're at the bottom of that level's totem pole. If you were the big fish previously working 8a-4p when you get promoted you will be forced to go back to nights, even if you've been with the company a total of 5 years and someone else on your level has only been there for 2 years. Other than that, I loved Kohl's!
Advice to Senior Management – Give shifts based on time with company, not time in role.

Former Employee – worked at Kohl's full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – We had our own cafa full of whatever you want to eat. They gave us free stuff we can use alll the time. We were always in meetings that were fun and engaging. We were able to grade our managers. We were able to be cross trained for other departments if they needed help and that was considered overtime. If you work during the holidays, the managers would come around with breakfast, lunch and dinner. Work life balance was awesome as well.
Cons – How they promoted people was bias.
Advice to Senior Management – Start promoting within the company more. People love to feel like they can grow with a company no matter what department they are in.

Cons – On your feet for extended periods.
Would be better if you could have a break every two hours so as not to be on your feet for so many hours without a break.
Advice to Senior Management – Possible to train employees a little better. No other advice to be given as the management is very nice.

Pros – I've been here almost two years, and I work on the sales floor. I've learned so much, I can do almost about anything (without the exception of managing). While it can get hectic during the major holidays, year round it's overall a nice place to work. We get a good discount, vacation time, 401k benefits, health, vision, and dental too. Even tuition reimbursement. My management team is very helpful and they listen to us quite often. Work/Life balance is good too. Sometimes they can't always accommodate that, but they really try their best. To perk us up, my managers will hand out candy, or they'll bring in food. One morning they made us waffles and pancakes to thank us for our hard work. :) They actually do this quite a bit, to be honest. I like my managers just for the fact that they care about us and want us to be happy. It's really good to have that morale. I see here in other reviews some employees don't have such morale or don't feel respected. Every store is different. I got lucky I guess. My store is awarded best in our district almost every year, and working there it really shows. I work with a great team. :)
Cons – Operating hours can go well into midnight around Christmas.
