Employee discount, busy work, and opportunities to move up.

    Cons

Low pay, hours aren't very good,

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Some supervisors are very lenient and some are very strict. There should be a balance between the two.

    I worked at Kohl's full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

-Easy job to get if you have a degree, but no prior experience, but expect low pay, and low annual raise.
-Very team oriented in stores that are meeting company standards
-Moving forward with technology to improve business (now utilizing RFID, MLS, and making annual updates to computer systems--very exciting stuff)
-Opportunity to learn new roles, promoting from within is fairly common
-They are adjusting their business model to keep the company moving forward. They're not in decline, just sort of stagnant and they want to get back on the incline.
-Significant employee discount, much better than most retailers

    Cons

-VERY low pay considering expectations and resources given.
-Some district managers rely solely on store manager feedback regarding ASMs, rather than getting to know ASMs themselves. What your SM thinks about you, is what the higher ups know about you.
-Increasing the workload & decreasing payroll, while still maintaining the expectation that managers remain hands-off
-Low level work-life balance if you have a family
-Annual contradictions in store policy and company direction.
-Leaders seem to not care about the people running working for them or how far they are stretched. Everyone is replaceable (makes sense logically, but they lose good people for petty reasons)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

For District Managers--take the time to get to know your team. Store managers are captains, but not they are not the actual team driving your business. ASMs are the backbone.

Corporate- stop cutting corners. It's not increasing efficiency at this point, it's increasing stress & turnover at all levels. It may look good on paper now, but in the end it will hurt the business

    I worked at Kohl's

    Pros

Loved the other associates I worked with.

    Cons

Was repeatedly refused a transfer, even the other store was willing, but my manager would not release me, my hrs were cut until a number of people quit, they gave me more hrs after that , but I put in my notice anyways, too far to drive for the pay..
