I worked at Kohl's full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Vacation time, personal time, health insurance, all great offerings through the company

    Cons

Workload was fair and equitable, yet if the company would've invested a small amount into fitting room monitor, the benefits would have been threee-fold. A typical weekend generates about 20 roll rods of recovery, and difficult to maintain, when floor associates are all on register

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

AHR needs to be increased for those stores with long term associates. Many in those stores are making $15+ in building with AHR's of $9 or less. This discrepancy does not allow enough "hands on deck" to deal with the customer flow, inhibiting the service given

    I have been working at Kohl's full-time

    Pros

Management and associates are friendly. Company is not all that bad to work for compared to other retailers. Promotes from within the company. Good for a part time job.

    Cons

Compensation is less than desirable especially for associates holding a "supervisor" position. A lot of responsibility for little pay.

Growth opportunity exists but can take many years to move up at all, which is very discouraging for someone looking to build a career with the company.

Constantly being harassed about getting credit.

Crazy schedule! In one week you may work at 4am or 8am or 3pm til midnight and be scheduled back at 5am the next morning. No normal person can live like that.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want to retain quality and knowledgeable employees consider more adequate compensation. A hard worker will only work so hard for so long for so little.

I worked at Kohl's full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Benefits, office culture, Employee oriented perks

    Cons

Management Loyalty, Difficult to advance. Too many days trying to satisfy the manager that was way out of line when it came to managing their employees. Many people when to HR regarding this manager (for more then 5 years) and it took me leaving for them to realize that the manager is not fit to manage people.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to employees when they have a problem with a manager. I spent too many days trying to make the best of a bad situation with my manager. It's unfortunate that it took me leaving to get HR to properly address the poor manager.

I worked at Kohl's full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Benefits are nice and it is a strong company overall.

    Cons

The biggest problems here are the work-life balance and the very low pay. Schedules change frequently so making plans is difficult. The store I was in had poor upper management and there was no good culture to work with.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There needs to be more oversight of store level management.

I have been working at Kohl's full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Offers great benefits and not a bad pay for the job itself. Continuous training, and great vacation policies. Discounts and more make for nabbing some AMAZING deals. Always be on the hunt, especially in the clearance.

    Cons

The hours and working weekends. Work-shift disorder may be a thing. If you don't mind some nights and every other weekend, then this job isn't terrible. But it also comes with some pretty terrible early mornings.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Actually take time to invest in your employees, and hold customers accountable. Coupon debacle of Summer 2014 is all that needs to be said....

I have been working at Kohl's full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great employee discounts, flexible hours, work with really nice people. Great job for someone wanting to make a little money.

    Cons

No future. Low pay, heavy work load for supervisors. Key holders are lucky to make $14-16. Understandable why half of employees give minimal effort.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Kohl's looses great employees every year at review time. Raises given at reviews are a complete joke. With a near perfect review was told I was lucky to get my 3%, .34 cent raise. Will be looking for a new job.
