Current Employee – been working at Kool Smiles full-time
Pros – The mission of the company.
Cons – Executive micromanagement.
Low salaries with unattainable bonus structure.
Company does not back employees and allows patients to walk all over them.
Classism in workplace based on titles
Advice to Senior Management – Respect the management you put in place.
You get what you pay for and your patient base will reflect.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Former Employee – worked at Kool Smiles full-time for less than a year
Pros – The local offices were great. I enjoyed working with the dentists, office staff, and managers everyday. The work is really meaningful.
Cons – Corporate was rarely helpful. They always pushed numbers, but wanted it to be about the patient experience. I was getting directives from across the country instead of the manager who was in my office. The call center is terrible.
Advice to Senior Management – Give more power back to management. The call center needs to go, it makes customers mad all the time. I spent more time apologizing for the call center then I did anything else for the company.

Current Employee – been working at Kool Smiles
Pros – -Office in a good location for me
-Fun and nice coworkers for the most part
-Comfortable and pleasant office environment
Cons – -Distant and uninvolved leadership
-Growth and development is actively discouraged
-Fear of/reluctance to accept change (narrow minded)
-Incompetent and invasive management
-Favoritism and unfair treatment
-Atmosphere of paranoia and secretiveness
Advice to Senior Management – Go back to putting patients first instead of the almighty dollar. It's very obvious from inside the company how it is motivated by greed. Stop snubbing your employees when they try to advance and smothering them with micromanagement.

Former Employee – worked at Kool Smiles full-time for more than a year
Pros – Highly digitalized, which is very convenient.
The health benefits package is very good. No 401K though.
Cons – It's a patient mill. The emphasis is on volume and not on proper treatment protocols or how they are delivered. Much of the auxiliary staff is under trained and non credentialed.
Doctors are seen as money making pawns to the company.
Advice to Senior Management – Manage the company the way one's own private dentist's practice is run.

Current Employee – been working at Kool Smiles
Pros – We take care of kids in need.
The Salary is decent for what the job is.
Autonomy to make your office a fun work environment.
Cons – Training: Office management is given an initial training at the corporate office and then they are left on their own. Support is very limited after the first 2 weeks.
Transparency: The offices are left in the dark with many issues that affect them. We are not trusted with financial information.
Very limited advancement potential for certain positions.
Unfair expectations and being held accountable for issues out of our control.
Serious lack of communication and incompetency at Support Services.
Disrespect and lack-of-care from the Central Billing Department and Call Center.
We are the "Jiffy Lube" of Dentistry. Patients are overscheduled and whipped through like numbers. This affects Quality work.
Greed: The Doctors will do whatever they can to make their commission. This often comes at the expense of the Dental Assistants and office staff.
Advice to Senior Management – Stick to your promises. Several incentives have been won with no reward ever being given.
Follow through. There are multiple initiatives rolled out that we never hear of again.
Fairness in customer service audits. Most comments are out of our control and we're still penalized for them.

Current Employee – been working at Kool Smiles
Pros – Great people at the clinic level that want to make a difference in under-served population.
Cons – Micromanaging to the extreme! Corporate really, really needs to take the time AND MONEY to evaluate each market and set strategies accordingly. EVERY market is different and cannot be evaluated from afar.
Advice to Senior Management – Micro managing does not work from "headquarters". Every market is different and adjustments must be made for each.

Current Employee – been working at Kool Smiles
Pros – Think we provide great service. Office staff is very good with patients.
Cons – Numbers, numbers, numbers. The pressure is incredible, the focus is on what you aren't accomplishing. Training is insufficient.
Advice to Senior Management – Don't hide in spreadsheets. The burnout rate is very high, you should ask yourself what the reality of the situation for CRS positions are.
