I worked at Kraft Foods part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The pay is competitive for the work, and ideally you should work a consistent schedule. If you are lucky you will have a competent supervisor that understands your job.

    Cons

Overworked, plain and simple forced 12 hour days and 7 days a week this can last for months at a time. The employee hand book is written in order to always allow management to change rules and be right. In many cases you are solely seen as a body that can be replaced.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better scheduling, and management and maybe care about your employees.

I have been working at Kraft Foods full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

I enjoy who I work with. The management team at this plant works well togather and supports each other the best we can. I have been with Kraft a few years and had the opportunity to work in multiple areas and functions.

    Cons

It can be challenging at times to get everything done and the hours can be long. Work life balance is tough. Career advancement is not as common as it used to be. Corporate support is non existant. Cost reduction is taking it's toll on experience with good people leaving.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value the people that made Kraft a sucessful company. Listen to the employees who make the product. I understand the financials but you really need to work on the message of change.

Great salary, high deductible benefits, fantastic work life balance, very foused on employee development.

    Cons

The constant change is occasionally difficult to execute.

I worked at Kraft Foods full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

There are many good people within Kraft. If you join the company with the intention of building a professional career, your goal should be to get up to Corporate or R&D. Vacation time was also excellent for salaried individuals.

    Cons

There was a lack of training and professional development opportunities at the plant. Career development was not taken seriously. Additionally, the heavy focus on cost savings resulted in insufficient investments in critical areas that would otherwise support proper functioning of the facility. Morale, safety and quality were essentially overlooked for the sake of saving money. There were many layers of bureaucracy to wade through. Also, individual pay was not always commensurate with experience, rather, related to favoritism.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management needs to focus on improving the morale of the plant. Also, without proper investments in training, maintenance and manufacturing equipment, the plant will continue to struggle. Some managers were also often disrespectful, unprofessional and discriminatory - inappropriate in any work environment.

    Pros

    Great salary and benefits
Push for more work - life

    Cons

People in Corporate are judged to be "high-potential" and in general, I agree with the concept behind this. However, many Kraft managers have become too focused on this and so anyone that is not tagged as "hi-po" is not supported as much as someone who's "hi-po".

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs to treat all employees equally - hi-po or not.
