I worked at Kraft Foods full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Company provides excellant training and promotes from within in many cases. They offer tuition reimbursement if you would like to continue your education and have a very good benefit package. They beleive in the value of the knowledge of their employees. All employees have say in how plant is run. (self directed work team environment)

    Cons

Hours can be long and job can be stressfull. Must be dedicated to the company. Mandatory plant and team meetings could cut into personal time.

I worked at Kraft Foods full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I worked in a newly formed Sales Services organization. Like myself, most of my fellow colleagues were also recent college graduates. All being brand new to the workforce, and working in a brand new department, everyone was tremendously supportive towards one another. This created an environment great for teamwork and collaboration, as we all (including management) had to face challenges and come up with answers together. I was able to obtain several promotions as a result of this starter role.

    Cons

There was a slight disadvantage in terms of the advancement policy. The employee's ability to apply for another internal position was left completely at the discretion of management. Though I personally had no issues, many of my colleagues were denied opportunities to pursue certain roles that they desired, and it would appear that politics and the self-interests of management could have been playing a role. Though the company did seem to reward top performers, it would still be nice to at least give everyone an equal opportunity to apply for positions that they might be interested in. Many were stopped cold before they even had the opportunity to do so.

Also, constant threat of outsourcing going on, which makes it difficult to plan your financial future around this job.

I worked at Kraft Foods full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great place for MBA's to get proper classical business training and experience and build a great professional network.

    Cons

Very large corporation. It's not for everyone. Sometimes projects can last for years and you may not stay with your project. Can be frustrating for entrepreneurial types who want to see fast results.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to drive a nimble, free-thinking culture that tasks risk and can deal with a certain percentage of failure. No one has 100% success no matter who you are.

    Pros

They were always considerate of your wellbeing. Always had good support teams, and safety was a good key factor as well as quality in the manufacturing of their products for consumption.

    Cons

There wasn't too many cons accept some of the upgrades needed for sanitation goes and some safety procedures, but it is a growing process.

I worked at Kraft Foods full-time

    Pros

Culture of people with high values all trying to do the right thing. Demanding workplace with challenging goals and fair compensation. A great training ground for most any function. Kraft name on your resume carries weight in the CPG space.

    Cons

Challenging industry/environment with a goal of low growth but high bottom-line and cash flow performance. Results in intense cost pressure that in some cases has gone too far and impacted top-line results. Lack of significant, sustained innovation adds to growing cost pressure. Significant outsourcing across most functions results limits entry-level opportunities for college grads. Entry level now is spending 3-5 years in functional roles at other CPG's that Kraft has outsourced.
