I have been working at Kratos Defense & Security Solutions full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Very friendly environment and interesting work.

    Cons

No real opportunities for advancement and salary if significantly lower than with past employers.

    Advice to Management

Use personnel in areas that they can feel rewarded.

I have been working at Kratos Defense & Security Solutions full-time

    Pros

    OK benefits. Capable engineering teams.

    Cons

Under market average wages, dismal merit raises, incentive compensation being withheld because of serious mismanagement issues that destroyed the company's performance and lost the confidence, and business, of key customers, poor internal communications, absentee leadership, no backlog and little current business, limited product base with poor growth potential. Manufacturing rates are not competitive.

    Advice to Management

Reinstate bonuses to improve employee morale. Eliminate corporate strategy to maintain a workforce at below market average wages. Remove executive incentive to retain below market average employee costs. Decrease indirect overhead that is weighing down company profitability. Modernize engineering tools.

    Pros

    - Pay is good, benefits are great - Getting paid overtime is awesome - Free soda - Work is fast paced and you're allowed a fair amount of autonomy - High quality team of engineers to work with - Colorado Springs is a beautiful location

    Cons

    - HUGE variability in experience, depending on which department/location you're in, and which customer you're working with. - Kratos develops software for the government and other defense contractors. Their bread & butter is one-off custom products. They talk big about COTS products, but it's very rare that they sell something that isn't customized. The end result is that their products are medium/low quality, and medium/low quality products are less fun to work with. - The project teams have very little time to develop good requirements with the customer, and then spend months and years on the back end making up for building on a flawed foundation - As others have noted, they do lay people off to make ends meet at the end of the year, and then open a bunch of job req's the next year

    Advice to Management

The cons I've noted are largely a byproduct of proximity to the government, so the only advice I have is to focus on getting out of that market and into the private sector.

    Pros

Good compensation package and a fun place to work. Everyone wants to grow and succeed, I like the people that work here.

    Cons

The products are unique and opportunities are somewhat limited to the satellite space. They need to grow the technical support team.

    Advice to Management

Work on developing a teaming atmosphere within the sales force and the technical support team. There have been many defections that have left gaping holes in the team.

    Pros

nice people to work with, pay abit low, benefits are just ok

    Cons

company treat employees like idiots, no management, total fear culture, Company treats employees with resentment and are expendable, no chances for advancement

    Advice to Management

Corporate need to take better care of employees and value their work skills rather than pretending and appearing to be PC

    Pros

Friendly group of people to work with.

    Cons

This place lacks proper training and support. There is no written procedures for many positions. Communication between management and workers very poor. People don't know how to do their jobs, but not because of lack of interest, it's lack of support and training. Management doesn't inform proper people when important changes are made throughout the company. They don't seem to care about their workers.

    Advice to Management

find out who needs to know important

I have been working at Kratos Defense & Security Solutions full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good locations to get to work from freeway. Hard to write any other Pros to be factual and accurate.

    Cons

Toxic, back stabbing work environment that allows inappropriate sexual misconduct to go on in the work place at PSS. Allowing employees to "sext" and send weird photos. Other women bragging about it at work and showing around the text messages on company phones. A joke of an interim regional VP who misbehaves with women via company cell phone and a president that knows. Complete chaos all the time.

    Advice to Management

Sort out the toxicity and lies. President is a joke of leadership. The constant turn over at PSS should tell you something about the work environment. Almost everyone is gone. Complete chaos.

I have been working at Kratos Defense & Security Solutions full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Really can't think of any

    Cons

Not competitive wages. Little if any employee support from management. I worked at a remote location (not a Kratos facility) but was only a few miles from the regional Kratos headquarters. The manager responsible for the contract I was on never contacted me via email and only visited the site once or twice per year.
