    Run AWAY!

    Shift Supervisor (Current Employee)

Pros-The customers are wonderful and you get to see all the happy babies
    -Great for a first job
    -Fun times with coworkers

ConsThey make you do all this work for little pay. Management sucks and don't care about staff. Because it's little pay, you have to get a 2nd job. When addressing that to upper management, they act surprised and act as if it's impossible!

    The turnover is extremely high.

Advice to Senior ManagementFind another field of work if you can't do your job correctly.

From decent to horrible. Run away while you can.

    Wholesale (Former Employee)

ProsFree doughnuts, weekly pay, decent benefits for full-time employees, meeting great clients on routes.

ConsNO work-life balance for wholesale division (route sales), change in pay structure = FAR less pay with the same amount of effort, upper management arbitrarily decides to throw corporate merchandising guidelines out of the window at the drop of a hat, no room for advancement, on-premise management relies on fear tactics and negative reinforcement rather than praise and positive reinforcement.

Advice to Senior ManagementRealize that your employees are humans and not robots. Wholesale works through inclement weather much of the time and no rain jackets/hooded jackets are available through uniform ordering. One pair of shoes purchased per year isn't enough; wholesale employees wear them out MUCH faster than that.

Do NOT state that a change in pay structure won't have an adverse change to pay rates, when all employees in the division noticed a marked decrease in weekly pay. Additionally, the corporate merchandising guidelines are released for a reason; upper management (Regional VPs) shouldn't be allowed to change product placement strategy on a whim.

    Ok

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsThey have flexible hours and can sometimes be a fun place to work. Customers are usually happy theyre getting donuts. Management is decent.

ConsToo much work without enough compensation. They dont usually put enough people on the schedule, therefore you work for 3 people with only the pay of one. They have however improved a bit on that.

    A learning experience

    General Manager (Former Employee)
    Pittsburgh, PA

ProsAt Krispy Kreme, hard work was recognized and rewarded, and leadership opportunities were available to those who had shown desire and the potential for growth. If you're young and just branching leadership, this is a good place to start.

ConsThe senior leadership was often unavailable for advice, and coaching wasn't very robust. Hourly wages were higher than other companies in the industry, but the salary for managers was next to nothing.

Advice to Senior ManagementProtect your brand. Your franchisee's will make or break your overall image and perception of the company. Beware of these groups flooding the market- continue to keep your brand a commodity.

Willfully refuses to do the right thing!

    Team Member/Supervisor Trainee (Former Employee)
    Alexandria, VA

ProsA step up from 1st. minimum wage fast food job. Fair second job.

ConsCorporate and store management treat employees with contempt. They deceive customers and employees as a matter of course. No training and incentives are contrived and not met.
Micro-managed at the corporate level, incompetently managed at store level.

Advice to Senior ManagementPresent the product for what it is, great fun food and stop trying to fool customers and employees. Eliminate either DMs, or GMs. The two positions are at odds concerning efficiency.

Prosthey are good about working with my schedule when it comes to school. i like alot of the people that i work with.

Consa lot of favoritism. they prompt people that dont deserve it. people make more money then the people that have been there longer.

Advice to Senior Managementbe fair with everyone. dont be two faced with your employees. dont treat people like they are not worth the time to be there

"Doughnut" take this job for too long

    Cashier (Current Employee)
    Milwaukee, WI

ProsOnly work there part-time if you are a student. Flexible hours are helpful

ConsIt is slow and hours are constantly getting cut. Constant miscommunication between mgmt and employees re: orders, getting in trouble for others' mistakes. A smaller store such as a mall kiosk would be helpful.

Advice to Senior ManagementPut things in writing, be more consistent.

If I could go back in time and decline the offer, I would

    Retail (Current Employee)

ProsFree donuts, friendly co-workers, decent pay.
The best thing about this job are the two works that I occasionally get scheduled with who have been here long enough to know exactly what's wrong and what needs to be done. They really should be the managers, but nope.
Other than that, 6 free donuts a shift IF you seriously feel like eating donuts after you serve them to crabby customers all day.

ConsManagement doesn't follow franchise rules, way understaffed
    -
I like the Krispy Kreme environment, but unfortunately there are way too many cons than pros. The biggest problem with working at Krispy Kreme is that they are very understaffed. They only have 3 employees running the entire front of the store AND the drive through (which gets SUPER busy). One person is responsible for the drive through window and customers always come through and order assorted donuts, which means you have to help the person at the speaker and take their order of their special donuts all while you help the person who's sitting at the window. There aren't enough people in the front. They should have two people who stay at the register and two people who box donuts, but no, that's not how it is. I have been working here for about a month now and have already seen several people walk out because there are too many customers and not enough employees to help them in a timely manner. In my opinion, they should sacrifice the 20 dollars an hour and hire two more employees to help, even if it was just on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays--that would be a start.

The training is awful. They say you have two weeks of training, but really it's more like 4 days where they push everything on you and tell you to finish the work book at home. I'm not a high school student, I don't need homework. That's what WORK is for. I was shoved into doing drive through on the busiest day of the week with only some help for a few hours.

One of the thing that bugs me most about this job is a coworker I have who happens to be an office manager who breaks franchise/company rules all the time. She comes in on her days off wearing non slip-resistant shoes, makes her family specialty drinks for free and acts like a micro-manager even when she's not on duty. It specifically says not do those things in the handbook, but I guess because she's some sort of "manager" those rules don't apply to her. I've considered calling the team member hotline and asking them what to do about it, but I really would just like to leave work at work, so I haven't yet. She's not even the GM, but nobody has the nerve to say anything to her, not even the multi-unit manager or GM. Whatever, though, nobody really likes her.

Overall, I wish I wouldn't have taken this job. It's so disorganized and the wrong people are in the management positions. The stores are understaffed, employees are overworked, and management is backwards. Plus, you have to deal with grumpy people all day.

Advice to Senior ManagementHire more employees so stores aren't understaffed, and instead of observing employees, observe managers as well.

Fun, but they don't promote within the store

    Shift Supervisor (Current Employee)

ProsFree donuts, fun place, great co-workers, stays busy, great vacation benefits, great atmosphere, love to see happy customers, schedule is flexible with what i need. Health benefits offered to full time employees.

ConsThey don't look at the qualities and qualifications of a good employee and offer promotion within the store. Gm needs to be more aware of what the employees do/don't do. Management doesn't get bonuses .

Advice to Senior ManagementWork together and perform all duties expected . Just one manager who doesn't pull their weight can disrupt the flow of operation. Put 110% in each day you work.
