Great for meeting people but not for putting money in the bank.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Kroger

ProsSafe working environment, Employee discount, friendly employees.

ConsLow pay, dysfunctional scheduling, poor communication between management and employees, and Union run.

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease take better care of all employees. From baggers to managers. Part-time and Full-time. A team manager takes care of all team mates. If you don't take care of your employees it's not going to give them any incentive to continue working very hard for you. 5 cents twice a year isn't going to cut it.

Exclusive and not Consistent in work ethics and morality

Assistant Store Manager (Current Employee)
Columbus, OH

I have been working at Kroger full-time for more than 3 years

ProsHealth Insurance is decent and Scripts are good. Different levels of employment of choice if available.

ConsVery exclusive despite its claims on an inclusive culture. Have ethnic racial issues within the stores. Extensive morality problems in the Executive and District Manager Branches, cannot hold each other accountable. Not a comfortable work environment.

Advice to Senior ManagementNeed Ethic Training and a objective/external HR partners to avoid potential lawsuits.

Horrible Management and bad location

Cashier (Former Employee)
Flint, MI

I worked at Kroger part-time for more than 3 years

ProsMost of the employees were nice and welcoming management was laid back . a birthday day or anniversary cards of $5 if they didn't forget you

Consmanagement didn't pay attention to clock fraud or if their employes were "high" or buying drugs in their lot. Employees were constantly talking bad about one another. 10cents raise every 6 months and fuel employees got no benefits and a cap on pay also couldn't participate in the rewards the grocery store section would win. Breaks and lunches were late or forgoten and you'd have to call and ask to get it yourself.

Advice to Senior ManagementManage . Treat your employees better 20cents a year raise is horrible itd take forever to get any where in the company. Fuel employees especially deserve health and rewards it can be dangerous working with fuel. Notice the little guy doing all the pickup of their so called lead teaching them nicely and getting nowhere noticed.

Stressful, pressured, with a touch of insanity

Chef Assistant (Current Employee)

I have been working at Kroger full-time for more than 3 years

ProsRaises every six months, flexible schedule making, overall cheery employees

ConsManagement is INSANE. They are pressured by the white coats up top to make results and when you don't get them those results, they make ridiculous demands, like toddlers throwing tantrums. Most of the department heads are physically or mentally ill due to the high amount of stress.

Advice to Senior ManagementCALM DOWN. We are people, treat us as such.

Krogers does not appreciate it's employees union or not.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Kroger part-time

ProsI get a paycheck every week.

Consthey overwork you and give no compensation for it. Krogers it growing and adding new things. This adds up to more work and training. They haven't given anyone compensation for all the added work. They have become very top heavy with duties. Their full time employment is very low. I'd say 80 percent are part time workers.

Advice to Senior ManagementStart taking care of the employees they are definitely under paid for all you've asked for.

Good at first but going down hill fast

Cashier (Current Employee)

I have been working at Kroger part-time for more than 5 years

ProsI had a flexible schedule and they allowed me to keep my job while I was away at school.

ConsThey treat you like crap if you don't devote your life to the company. They only allow part time now and you will never be able to work over 27 hrs a week and I have been with them for 6 years.

Advice to Senior ManagementAppreciate your employees more and give them the respect and hours they deserve especially for the time they have devoted to your organization.
