I worked at Kroger part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Met a lot of awesome people there, promotes from within, Union protection, Amazing health coverage (even for part timers)

    Cons

Low pay, Store managers change frequently and some are better than others

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There needs to be more consistency between management at some stores. Every manager does things differently and it can become a hassle when things change with each new manager.

I have been working at Kroger part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Provides a stable salary with room for growth. Very fair on the time clock. There is also the luxury of paid time off.

    Cons

Corporate policy includes providing customer oriented services. This policy creates customers that are needy and rude. Sometimes scheduled work hours may interfere with personal schedule.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

While staff members are working hard to cater the needs of customers, they might still receive complaints. Please do take the necessary time to investigate the truth.

I worked at Kroger part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Very flexible schedules for school/family, paid vacations and overtime, if you make friends with management and supervisors, work will be easy, and opportunities to work in different departments

    Cons

Customers are often rude and you just have to take it, multiple managers means conflicting rules, part time workers have to compete for hours and desired days off (seniority rules)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get together and have one set of rules and guidelines for employees to follow, and don't pick obvious favorites.

I have been working at Kroger

    Pros

    some nice people,some nice customers

    Cons

No REAL pay(no matter what level i.e bagger to co mgr,and no matter what education level) benefits are run wal mart way, operations systems are horribly out dated which causes stress,No true innovative and direction allowed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Force 30plus yr veterans into retirement. Your mentality needs to change. Even customers admit it. Excellent messages from HR(but never executed ,meant in earnest or implemented truly) Hire educated innovative new managers that you wil really listen to about operations, training is of no use if you dont allow them to fix things an not enough if you take a hands off approach around negative upper mgmnt that just causes them to get frustrated, leave, and stop caring.Stop advertising oppurtunities that are not real. New hires are brought into (on all levels) an enviorment where its not what you know but who you know. This allows out of date ideas an approachs, coupled with complete no tech knowledge environment to drive a million dollar budget. Give new managers better compensation instead of only giving it to our store directors. Show we care about our people more, truly value education an pay them a livable wage across the board, dont grow too fast at the cost of your people even if you might not need them due to online sales. Stop thinking like its 1979 an embrace, show act an become part of this new century with new management ideas. Stop worrying about stock price an worry about real long term growth assests. We ll make profits but at what cost to our people and customers?

I have been working at Kroger part-time

    Pros

everybody is very friendly, everybody works together, management is nice and tells you where you could improve, and time flys by when you're working and pay is not bad

    Cons

sometimes it can be hecktic and sometimes people don't notice you need help, supervisor should step in when we need help sometimes and some customers can be rude

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

they should train future employees on how to talk to a customer who's not in a nice mood, employees should learn more about the company
