I have been working at Kroger

    Pros

The benefits are good if you stay long term. They are willing to work around things you have to do. You meet nice people.

    Cons

They don't pay well. If you are looking for a full time job then Kroger is not the place for you.

    I worked at Kroger

    Pros

Regular employees such as cashiers receive medical benefits.
The company has multiple locations and affiliates around the country.
The company hires and promotes from within, however difficult to go from store to corporate headquarters.

    Cons

Difficult to go from store to corporate headquarters: no true advancement.

    Low manager salaries.

Non progressive -some positions should be able to work from home rather than distant headquarters outside Houston area.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Manager salaries should increase; hours should definitely decrease.

I worked at Kroger part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Friendly people, I worked at the front and cashiering/bagging is very straightforward - they offer incentives for getting faster at both and if you're good you can move up a little bit from bagger to cashier to self checkout to customer service.

    Cons

Minimum wage wasn't fun, they didn't respect my requests as far as hours or days, and I have a feeling that, because of the quick turnover rate of entry level jobs, the floor manager and store supervisor didn't trust young people. I tried to call in sick one day and they had me come in anyway with no promise of early ending despite my fever, lack of voice, etc.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Just listen to your people, my manager didn't even ask me why I was quitting until my last day. From that and my time there it didn't feel like they cared much. Other supervisors were great and I like that they expected a lot from me.
