Generally a good place to work if you are fast and frugal

I have been working at L Brands full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Associate discount and free products are great. Work life balance is possible here. There are opportunities to move to other depts and categories. Management strives to hire and promote from within. That's said, it takes time to move up. This is a relationship based company and building relationships is important.Casual work Environment. Generally young hip group of people in individual contributor positions. Fashion and or beauty background is a must. Work hard play hard. Company holds appreciation events , charitable events and fun summer and winter events . Expanding globally which is exciting . Opportunities for training and development

    Cons

Starting salary for entry level is not on par with other large companies. There has been some turnover in my dept and recent layoffs across the company which is scary. People who have been with the company for 10-15+ years have been laid off. A slap in the face for associates who remained loyal .
We are always encouraged to be faster and more frugal than year before and it's challenging. We support the retailers so corporate doesn't close on Black Friday , Christmas Eve or New Year's Eve. Need to rotate days off with team. We don't close on snow days either.

Very good benefits including merchandise discount; opportunity for personal growth and development; good core value that are expected to be followed, not just words that don't mean anything.

    Cons

Former Employee - Intern - Hourly in Columbus, OH

I worked at L Brands as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

-The internship program is very efficient and well run. They will do their best to make sure their interns get the most beneficial experience possible.
-They are the industry leader in personal care and intimate apparel for a reason. They know what they need to do and are very good at it.
-Very involved in community service in the Columbus area.

    Cons

-Internship is only ten weeks long.
-Full time employees seem to work very long hours. That isn't unusual but if that's not your thing, then it might be better for both parties for you to work elsewhere.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let interns know what the real possibilities are of being hired on full time after graduation. Better to be brutally honest then to leave them with false hope.

I have been working at L Brands full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Upper management is extremely intelligent and transparent in communication with associates from top to bottom.

    Good pay and decent benefits.

The company is growing, which provides a great opportunity to learn with the business.

    Cons

Executives sometimes seem as though they view associate opinions as worthless. Opinions from all levels should be respected and given proper consideration.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

A culture respecting all associates originates at the top. Lead by example to make it clear to all executives that all associates have valuable insight to share at times.

Current Employee - IT Project Analyst in Columbus, OH

I have been working at L Brands full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Busy, fast paced environment that keeps things exciting. Executive leadership is built on a foundation of outstanding business acumen. It is widely believed that having this company on your resume can be a real confidence booster in the future.

    Cons

The focus on technology being revolutionary just isn't here. The jargon to, "Do more, with less," is everywhere which can be a bummer when you're being asked to take more responsibility but can't shed any old responsibilities to free up time for critical thinking. The, "Old guard," can squash new ideas with relative ease.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Slow is smooth, and smooth is fast. Just like the difference between accuracy and precision, there is a difference between speed and fast.
