    I worked at L Brands

    Pros

There were great people who worked their butts off to make the brands successful. It was a great team atmosphere.

    Cons

    One word..... burnout, burnout, burnout

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The company is turning back into the horrible "burn and turn" reputation as a place to work that many spent a large part of our careers fixing. And you just laid off many of the folks that fixed that reputation.

I have been working at L Brands

    Pros

Fairly good benefits, laid back work environment (if thats what you enjoy) and management seems to treat employees fairly.

    Cons

Work environment is to casual/laidback at times. Management tends to let people underperform. Serious lack of recognition. Pay is below the average for similar positions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    eliminiate some middle management

I worked at L Brands full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Job offered me the opportunity to learn a lot and prepare me for my next professional position.

    Cons

Political infrastructure can be difficult to manuever to leverage yourself professionally. Work life balance is questionable.

I worked at L Brands full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Benefits are great
The company is lucky that VS does so well - it sells itself
Some very nice people work here

    Cons

    Politics
    Playing favorites
Smug & incompetent people in positions of leadership
    Backstabbing by co-workers
Management is top heavy (too many chiefs)
Too many employees have worked at this company their entire career, so this is the only way they know 'how to do things'
HR does little to nothing to help - sides with 'the company"
It's not what you know, it's who you know
    Ignorance borne from arrogance

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do some actual managing of people and projects & stop playing politics

I have been working at L Brands

    Pros

    Job stability
    High quality of associates
Senior Management provides Associate Opinion Surveys
    Name and Brand recognition
    Employee Discount
    Training programs are being developed

    Cons

Company is making money but not sharing it with associates who do the work
Associate Opinion Surveys aren't always acted upon
No time provided for training and development
Work/Life balance is talked about but hours are long. Managers often leave for the day while their subordinates stay and do the work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Practice what you preach
Live up to the core values that you post on the walls
    Treat associates with respect

I have been working at L Brands

    Pros

Salary is acceptable for entry (college) level or if recruited from a respectable competitor.

    Cons

100% political. If you're not brown-nosing (which still isn't a gaurantee), you will not be included in the 'in crowd', Promotion and recognition is not based on work performance and the Limited Way.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The company is successful because the associates are loyal to the brand (and the pay in this economy); not to the management. Acknowledge and promote your associates from within. They are working too hard to be treated the way that they are. Associates stick it out for years because they would like to believe that it will get better...but it never does.

I have been working at L Brands

    Pros

They pay you well that's a given. The brands are strong and leaders in their field so there's the built in benefit with both the customer and future employers...there is a halo effect.

    Cons

Work/Life balance is not good. Quality of life living in Columbus is not for everyone...it's a quiet/small town and expensive for what you get in return.

The company lacks in role clarity and ability to move forward effectively. They get mired down in a desire for consensus and alignment....we gotta move here people!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Live the LimitedWay values...just don't talk about them! Remember the importance of Shadow of the Leader.

I have been working at L Brands

    Pros

Employee discount is ok where I work (Express) - the hours aren't too bad and the work is easy. Very, very easy.

    Cons

There have been days when I've arrived at work and a manager hasn't shown up to unlock the doors so I've had to sit outside and wait, which is frustrating. My shifts often get canceled/cut short with only a few hours notice. Store relies heavily on signing up customers for credit cards and getting their personal information at check-out, which is generally a hassle for everyone.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make scheduling more clear - I often have difficulty logging on and accessing my schedule, and my manager was no help in setting it up and accessing.
