    Pros

You do nothing besides walk outside and try to persuade people everyday to get a membership. The pay is minimum wage until you go passed your quota for the pay period and its un likely you will get passed that quota until you are there for at least 4 month. so good luck paying your bills.

    Cons

underpaid, making false promotion deals, no benefits, sketchy co managers.

    Pros

free membership, opportunity to meet a ton of people, fast track management

    Cons

Too much fast track management (which they often promote people before they are ready to handle a larger role), multiple conference calls that waste 2-3 hrs a day yet they complain about "maximizing time", typical corporate sales pitch, Personal Training prices are very out of control, Hire unqualified trainers quite frequently, zero customer service skills, will move you from club to club to help avoid you getting "too comfortable" (they do this to avoid people becoming too friendly with members so they dont offer discounts, free services...to members the employees get to know well, NO FACIAL HAIR even if well kept (they seriously think theyre the NY Yankees of fitness clubs), little to no leadership from the top on down, all hype and no show (management would always tell this is going to happen or that is gonna change here and nothing ever did as long as the club is profitable)...I could clearly go on and on for days

I worked at LA Fitness (UK)

    Pros

If you are single, need a job to get you by and want to meet people. As a sales person, you will also learn great sales skills which you can take with you else where.

    Cons

You are a number. Most of the locations are a revolving door. Only few people can make it long term and you will have no work life balance. As you move up the ladder you will work more and more hours (I used to work 70+ hours) and had no life outside of work.
Also, the sales goals were very arbitrary. You are at the mercy of your Super Regional VP to set your club goals which was usually a guess on their part until they figured out the market.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You need to change the culture where there is balance between hitting the numbers and allowing your Sales Managers, General Managers and District Managers to have a life outside of LAF

I worked at LA Fitness (UK)

    Pros

Staff was fun to work with.

    Cons

Aggressive HR forced me to step away from cycle instructor after claiming I put two unaccounted hours on my time card for first responder training. Aggressively accused me of padding hours, then when she resisted it was for the first responder course felt I was still lying even though the class was longer than two hours.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Seemed like a lame way to push out an instructor that was just there to help and have fun. Especially when he had support for the two hours he added and then also offered to have the hours removed.
    Never returned since.

I have been working at LA Fitness (UK) full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Free Membership and Good work hours

    Cons

Very unstructured in management which creates a conflict between two teams. One which is charged to uphold integrity and rules while the other encouraged to break them. This creates a hostile work place and unaligned objectives.

Breakdown of communication in upper management, unclear priorities, and poor training programs for hirin.g and staffing

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Align your objectives and build a team rather then dividing your staff into two teams that work against each other. A house divided will not stand.

    Pros

One on one experience with members looking to accomplish fitness goals. A great place to learn customer service basics.

    Cons

Long hours, awards based solely on results and not effort, extremely over competitive inner company standards

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It is imperative to know that all managers are training similarly and effectively to avoid turnover rates and issuing fault where it is not due.
