    Pros

Fellow employees, relatively competitive pay scale, as well as a good work environment.

    Cons

You are expected to know everything as soon as you hit the door. I was told that I wasn't "catching on" as quick as they thought I should have. I've been unemployed for three years, maybe they should have taken that into consideration when I started. They only gave me three days to "train".

    Advice to Management

Had I not been "bird dogged" from the start, may things would have been different. Did they really think three days training was long enough? All I can say is that it's their loss. It's a fact that older employees are the most reliable. .

    Pros

Good, clean, stable environment. LMI is in a great position in the marketplace.

    Cons

Wage structure is not up to speed with similar employers in the area.

    Advice to Management

Change the wage structure and find ways to retain talented employees.

    Pros

Good pay and benefits. GM was easy to work for and good hard working people.

    Cons

Small company and understaffed. Inability to grow the CNC machining business is resulting in the closing of the Fort Worth, Texas facility in 2014. Expectations of hours to work not conveyed well and work/home life suffers

    Advice to Management

Work normal hours and staff correctly to support business needs and home life of employees

    Pros

There is a concern for people throughout the organization. An apolitical organization compared to others I've seen. People are generally interested in doing the best possible job and are concerned for the company's interest, and I believe that upper management does care for the employees.

    Cons

Benefits are mediocre or below. Many of the practices are old fashioned and not in line with current thinking. Sometimes there's not a lot of room for outside ideas.

    Advice to Management

LMIA is in a position of becoming a large, diversified company. Different practices and management styles are needed than were in order when it was a $25 million metal fabricator. Focus on operational efficiencies and up-to-date manufacturing thought.

    Pros

Size of company allows individual to do many things, make a real contribution. Family-like atmosphere. Senior management seems to genuinely care for the employees. Encourages good work-life balance. Company is very committed to community involvement.

    Cons

No opportunity for advancement beyond current position. Benefits are below average.

    Advice to Management

Listen to ideas that come from outside of the company. In recent years, many people with experience at other successful companies have joined LMI, and LMI has a great opportunity to learn new ways of doing things.
