    Pros

You can work from home which is really an advantage. Flexible hours as you choose to work when you're able.

    Cons

Long hours of standing by depending on the demand. When there is not enough demand, you're just sitting around trying to occupy yourself without being completely free.

    Pros

I work at the call center in Portland, Oregon. It's a full-time position, with benefits. Pay is $20/hr which is in line and toward the higher end for most interpretation places. Great location, full time, schedule is flexible so good for students, public transportation reimbursement, supervisors are nice to work with.

    Cons

Company's policy is not clearly communicated, and keep changing depends on who you talked to. Misinformation regarding: holiday pay, penalty for employees, overtime pay, benefits, trajectory of company's profitability, and the manner in which the job will be carry out in the future (there were "talks" of video interpreting, for example, and "talks" of handling medical calls, but there are no definite answer as to when, and how.) We hear more rumors in the office than official news from the manager.

    Advice to Management

    Communication is super important.

    Pros

Working from home so no need to fill car with gas or buy clothes for work. Reimbursed for phone line and phone equipment.

    Cons

Very busy at times and requesting time off is a bit hard. You have to use a calendar to see what days are available and often, the days you need/want are mysteriously unavailable.

    Pros

One does not have to spend any money on working clothes or commuting expenses.

    Cons

The pay isn't as high as if one would work in person as an interpreter.

    Advice to Management

There's a huge need to update their Impact 360 Platform; it's too outdated...

    Pros

No cost for travel, everything is communicated virtually through internet or landline. Seems like a lot of people complaint about late response from management, but to me it was acceptable speed. Your landline installation fee, phone expense will be reimbursed.

    Cons

Pay is fixed, $14. Sometimes when the day is slow, you get calls that are not related to medical problems. I don't know whether it was intentionally or just by random. Career path is limited. From medical interpreter position you can move to advanced interpreter, but that pay is $0.4/min or minimum state wage per hour.

    Advice to Management

Provide more training to interpreters. Don't send new interpreters on board with no basic medical training.

    Pros

Work from home, no driving, dressing up.

    Cons

Professional growth, raise in pay, lack of communication.

    Advice to Management

I would like to have some benefits of course.. especially paid vacation. More communication with the management and conference calls with other interpreters to share experience, knowledge and tips.
