    Not a challenging environment

    Executive (Former Employee)

ProsGet all the time in world to work on things, relaxed, laid back

Consnot so challenging, least recognition to talents, do the same stuff over and over again, get all info from previously available results and keep repeating it, not worried about results that an excel prints out, revisions over and over again, contractors over-powering managers/management

    Satisfying.

Senior Engineer (Former Employee) Calcutta (India)

ProsVast work scope ranging from technical to management and process improvement.

ConsHectic and long shifts. Having to attend office 28 days a month.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe concept of work life balance should be realized and put into effect strongly, which will in turn motive employees to work with honesty and dedication along with a 'feel good' factor.

A perfectly WRONG place for an HR Professional!!!

Human Resources (Current Employee) Mumbai (India)

    ProsPerks and Benefits are good.
Most of your expenses are taken care of. (Conveyance, Food, Medicals, etc)
    Excellent place for an engineer.
    Legacy.

ConsPathetic work Culture. Absolutely no growth potential or learning potential.
The HR role is just that of an admin. Still following HR policies designed 2 decades earlier.
Immense and heavy workload. No Succession Planning.
Nepotism, Favoritism, Politics done at every level.

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease start concentrating on strategy, employee engagement, leadership development. etc

    GET (Current Employee) Bangalore (India)

ProsSalary and facilities along with the industrial exposure is good.

ConsSite jobs are too strenuous with mindless man management for very long working hours(more than 15) and on Sundays too!!

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease treat Graduate engineer trainees with some respect and give them proper intellectual work as they are graduates and know things unlike the supervisors.Use us better. We have more to deliver.

Sr. Design Engineer Electrical in L&T MMH IC

Senior Design Engineer (Current Employee) Calcutta (India)

ProsIf you have no aspiration you can indulge in spoiling yourself by gossiping, roaming in the offices.
If u want a job in metro cities its good and preferable to get settled here.

ConsFavourism is all they (management) know.Job culture is very poor. We do design only in names but in actual practice the job is basically a job of a Middle man. No scope of improvement. Middle and senior management are not at all very keen to learn any any thing no they want to educate the entry level engineers. Monotonus job, no variety, if you have started doing one particular job you will be doing the same job irrespective of project after 3,4,5,6,,7 years like me. The management is strongly believes in retention policies.Compensation is good only for people who flatter the bosses a lot, and show off that they r doing the precise and large volume of job (apparently).
For an ambitious student of engineering none should join this company, at least in MMH IC.

Advice to Senior ManagementI advise the management that you people learn first of all.Only mailing will not prove you a good engineer/manager. If you dont bother to learn then please arrange proper training program for entry level engineers rather than increasing the manpower.

Great Technically but for HR and compensation policies

Senior Manager (Current Employee) Calcutta (India)

ProsGreat techical challenges and opportunities to learn

ConsExploiting HR policies, to many internal groups busy in blame game and politics, Favouritism for only selected 'YES SIR' employees, Unfair annual assessments, No increase in pay packet w.r.t inflation and industry standards, No reviews of its HR policies, very Rigid

Advice to Senior ManagementWhen CTC and profit shares of top management can be manipulated and increased, why not all others on whoes strength the company's profit margins are maintained. Please look after your subordinates also

Good place to learn for a span of 2-3 years and not more than that.Career growth will be stunted except for a few units.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Chennai (India)

Prosvery open. inter departmental activities are open to all. Scope for learning. Can enjoy freedom

ConsAll are bosses here. lots of politics and cunning behaviour reqd to move up in the ladder. POOR COMPENSATION & utter waste HR.

Advice to Senior ManagementThough the scope for learning is of an advantage here, there's nothing from the upper management/ HR to groom the young crest graduates. If at all, Atleast 10% of what is shown in the Company presentations had been implemented, The scenario would have been much different.
