I worked at LeasePlan USA as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

Friendly environment, flexible hours, employees feel appreciated.

    Cons

IT is stuck 10-15 years behind. Antiquated software development process and operations. Management has no interest in improvement. Projects consistently behind schedule and over budget.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire outside people with different perspective and recent IT experience.

    I worked at LeasePlan USA

    Pros

LeasePlan offers its employees many training opportunities. In addition there are many team building opportunities available to you and your co-workers. Holidays are celebrated with luncheons and giveaways.
An open door policy does exist.
Many good people good people at the company.

    Cons

Mid- management is rude!!!!!!!!!!!!! The open door policy does not come with confidentiality. A chain of command is continually asserted so upper management does not have to deal with the failures of lower management. The compensation leaves much to be desired in relation to work. While the executive management team is an inspirational group of people, lower management does not help in building moral. If anything their goal seems to be to destroy it. There are many backstabbing individuals at LP and these people are often rewarded with promotions. If you are not unwilling to play the game you are often ostracized

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My suggestion would be to challenge lower management on their decision making. While the company preaches accountability it does not require that same response from mid- management when dealing with the employees. Encourage a change in processes and procedures for the better. Have managers evaluate how processes are being implemented and whether they believe the processes can be improved. If so force them to implement these changes. They are too many people who are allowed to get away with simply saying NO to new ideas because they may serve some value to a manger who is unaware or unable to do their jobs.

Chicago / Rolling Meadows office a dead end

I have been working at LeasePlan USA

    Pros

LeasePlan senior management communicates well with employees on the state of the business. They did their best not to lay folks off but instead found creative ways to keep folks employed when the economy went downhill.

    Cons

The corporate office is in Atlanta. Chicago is a small office performing some services for the company. If you work in the Chicago office, you suffer from an "out of sight, out of mind" syndrome many times. Communication between the offices are not good. All the good positions and career opportunities are in Atlanta, so if you work in the Chicago office, whatever job you have today is the job you will have for as long as you stay with the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you truly care about the Chicago employees, work harder to foster real communication among departments between the two offices.
