I have been working at Lebara full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Company keeps wanting to reinvent itself again and again. Has a good market brand and people respect what it is trying to do for community both in UK and at home in India and Sri Lanka.

    Cons

First it tried it to sell itself but no one buys it. So it cuts jobs and kicks people out. Then it tries again to build itself up and hire new talent but not successful. New management is brought in all the time like rotating carousel. Nothing really changes in this place. Ask me I am here for so many years but still the same.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop only focusing on Marketing and Selling; look at the technology also. You cannot make progress if you don't fix that first. Dont rely only on old hands to fix this. Give the new folks a chance or else nothing will change.

I have been working at Lebara full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Ideal business framework and a very unconventional and splendid chairman

    Cons

Grouping, old ruthless and less qualified people dominate organisation structure and policy making.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Tremendous potential wasted because of grouping, sheer violation of merit. People who remind you of old glory are not sincere. Delegation of power and ownership to qualified people is important. Strong CxO layer required who are allowed complete autonomy to make decisions and organise. Honestly no more than a months worth of genuine effort will change the company.

Former Contractor - Customer Service Advisor in London, England (UK)

I worked at Lebara as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

I worked as a multilingual Customer Service Agent, my colleagues were super nice and the atmosphere at our table was always great, with loads of good chats and laughs (I guess you need a sense of humour for this kind of work). The location is very central, which is another plus, shifts can be swapped and the schedule is flexible (to some extent).

    Cons

The work itself is very boring, there is no training provided and some managers are not helpful at all (to say the least). Good staff are not being rewarded, it seems that loyalty, punctuality and servitude are more valuable than doing your job right. The salaries are extremely low for the type of skills being asked for (some CS Advisers answer calls in 3,4, or even 5 languages and are not even being paid the London Living Wage).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Commit to paying the London Living Wage (or pay extra for each language spoken) and learn to recognise talent and dedication, instead of covering up exploitation with cosmetic measures (Friday games, daily work outs, free instant coffee of the cheapest sort etc)

I worked at Lebara full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Semi flexible in shift swapping, good location, clean tidy modern office, Nice customer service colleges

    Cons

Awful management except one who is nice. favoritism is widely used and people are employed only because they are in with management, to much internal hiring and only to the people that management like, No career progression. back to back call taking non stop, no incentives, Bullying tactics used, agents are fired unfairly and in a non legal way. I don't think the ceo realizes how his business is run.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop using favoritism and treat everyone in a fair way. Take a day on the phones and see how hard the job is. Offer more incentives, stop changing things all the time. This company loose lots of staff because people want to be treated better. Unfair practice is the worst thing a company can use.

I worked at Lebara full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Fast paced entrepreneurial environment; Opportunities to take on responsibility quickly and be in charge of implementing major initiatives that have a direct impact on the profitabilty of the company.

    Cons

A weak Executive management team leading to poor direction from the top with a lack of a clearly defined strategy and implementation plan on delivering to the company's goals.
Lack of ability to deal with the direct competition in the marketplace, with little innovation being shown in the past 12 months to address a declining market-share.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

A greater culture of trust in the employee base needs to be provided.
Consideration should be given to a new Executive team, and a relocation of the head-office (currently London) to allow for a new approach to how the business is run.

I have been working at Lebara

    Pros

The location is good, nothing else really.

    Cons

No procedures, difficult to be proactive, not many people actually care about anything. Many things permanently do not work at all.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Some managers should have gone away long time ago, seem to be useless wasting Lebara's money.
