    Pros

Great name, smart people, lots of growth potential (if willing to stay a while).

    Cons

There are so many people at Lehman it's hard to get a leg up on anyone because everyone is as smart as you are or smarter.

    Advice to Management

Don't have meetings just to have meetings. They should be meaningful and productive.

    Pros

Colleagues are friendly and supportive. The work is very demand and challenging, but also very interesting. Lehman really pushes you to the limit. You end up learning a lot about the world and about your own capabilities. The firm location is centrally located near Times Square, and there are lot of bars restaurants and theatres nearby, though there is hardly time to really enjoy them.

    Cons

I find the hours to be very long and exhausting. The technical support thus far has been just abysmal. It took me two months to get basic software so I could begin work. Also, the cafeteria food leaves something to be desired, but there are a lot of options outside.

    Advice to Management

The core competencies are all there, but the peripherals- tech support, firm atmosphere and sense of community- can use polishing.

    Pros

There is room for advancement and the people are great. I work with some of the smartest people in the world!

    Cons

You get to much of your compesation in Stock.

    Advice to Management

Listen to peolpe in the field. I feel like there is a strong disconnect between senior management and people on the front lines.

Compensation and benefits are great. Within information technology the day to day duties are not stressful and management is mindful of this.

    Cons

Very large company. People can drown here if you're not careful

    Advice to Management

    Better communication to employees

    Pros

Treated employees well; support from HR good. They have a great opportunity to think global and provide leadership for national viewing, but have not been able to grasp it.

    Cons

lack of direction and path - seems to lack overall vision of what they want to be and where they want to go creating tremendous waste. Seems they are being pulled in too many different directions, and the upper execs are so focused on making money that they wound up missing the boat.

    Advice to Management

listen to local managers more and improve communications

    Pros

Its culture, and the firm really invests in its people by offering a lot of networking events and classes.

    Cons

Senior management doesn't communicate much with its employees.

    Advice to Management

They should proactively communicate more with its employees on both professional and personal levels.

  10. The people and culture differentiate Lehman Brothers.

    Pros

The best part about Lehman Brothers is the culture, hands down. All Wall Street firms have investment banking, capital markets, investment management, etc., but what differentiates Lehman is the team-based work environment and people. When you're working 10 - 16 hours a day (depending on the department in which you work), you want to be around people who can, for example, not only answer your questions about interest rate derivatives but also carry on a conversation about their favorite YouTube videos. Lehman Brothers' employees are genuinely kind people who look out for the best interests of the team and the Firm, making it truly "One Firm."

    Cons

The downside of working at Lehman Brothers is the constant fear that the Firm might become the next Bear Stearns. It's not necessarily something inherently wrong with the Firm itself, but the overwhelming media attention from the financial press definitely puts a damper on morale.

    Advice to Management

It would be beneficial to receive more open communication from Senior Management .

  11. Great place to work, if you can keep operating given all the market speculation right now.

    Pros

Bright, supportive people who definitely will help ensure your professional growth.

    Cons

Long hours and current market environment.

    Advice to Management

At times, try to be more forthright with information that might affect the careers of your employees.
